just wondering what procedures I need to follow to buy a used private party vehicle in texas and bring it back to louisiana.

Obviously I would add it to my insurance but what about a license plate for the drive home? can I just stick an in transit tag? which state do I pay taxes to? I guess I would need the title signed over and a notarized bill of sale.

no idea on the license plate but you pay taxes in Louisiana at the DMV when you register it

Just wing it with the bill of sale for the drive back.

Bought a vehicle from TX back in 2001 using a EBay aution. Just have a notorized bill of sale. Do not pay sales tax in TX, bring notorized bill of sale to local DMV or notary that has plates and pay LA sales tax then. They will also give you your new lisence plate then.
