I was ill positioned for this downturn, with a major lack of cash. That said, I have a substantial borrowing capacity using my investment accounts as collateral. The interest rate for this borrowing floats, last I checked it was around 3.5. This goes against every conservative investment philosophy I’ve tried to live by, but I’m seriously considering throwing some borrowed money, trying to find some bargains. One way to alleviate the risk to some extent would be to try to focus on dividend paying positions, but obviously those could go away. And these airlines and banks- holy hell. Have any of y’all ever gone this route?

PS- I’m in my late 30’s so open to some risk.

I tried it for the first time two weeks ago (great timing on my part ). I ended up taking the loss bigger than I wanted to but I was ill positioned and glad I do. It's very tempting but I got burned. I'm back at working just in my cash position.

This is a horrible idea in my opinion. If you get margin called and don't have other cash you're gonna be in a world of hurt.

I mean sure, it can work. Just don’t kill yourself if we have another major leg down and you get margin called.

Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong
