Why cvx over cop? Seems like cop is at a bigger discount right now.

P/E for COP is in the 8s and CVX is in the 9s, so not a vastly better deal right now.

Chevron is just Chrevron. It's even larger and more stable than COP.

if the numbers on yahoo finance are accurate their payout ratio is extremely high, that dividend could be cut.

The company being acquired typically sees a stock price jump.

That said, many companies have been rumored to be looking at BP for years. It is a bunch of fluff IMO
