But if I do end up transerring ETH to binance so I can dabble around with iota or others, let's say I'm happy with some gains and want to "cash out"..how does that work? Do I simply go to my account and transfer it back to Coinbase in the form of ETH?

Yes, you transfer back to your acct on CB, you just take your coin on Binance, transfer it to BTC, then transfer the BTC back to CB.

Anybody buying on binance buy their bnb coin and use that when making trades. There is a setting to get 50% off fees and you just pay a % of the bnb coin instead of the coin you are buying

I do. Just go buy a small amount of BNB and make sure the discount option is toggled on in your account settings and you’re good to go.
