Looking online there is quite a bit of different choices for PMP prep. Anyone have any recommendations on who to go with. Any pointers in general?

I can't speak for PMP, but I did my CISSP and I found the boson test engine very helpful and worth the cost.

This worked fine for me. Honestly it’s just about getting the 35 PDUs. Whatever the cheapest/fastest way to do that is what I would do.
Spend the money on study hall. It’s worth its weight in gold. When you’re getting high 70s on your practice tests you’re fine to move on to the actual test.
Edit to say it’s all about learning the PMI mindset when you’re taking the exam. Think of it that way and you’ll do fine.

PMP cert is still a thing? I worked for a pretty large company that used to value it and had moved away from it once the agile stuff took hold.

Agile is a management approach. It’s covered in the PMP course.

I agree with people that said to do a boot camp. I went with the Rita Mulcahy boot camp back years ago (RMC Learning Solutions) and I took the exam shortly after and I was very well prepared. It was worth the time just locked in and focused on preparing for the exam.
To others asking if this is still a thing, yes it is, but one word of caution - the mentality that you have to have to pass the exam is one of "in ideal circumstances..." or "under best practices..." - part of the boot camp is to rid you of your pre-conceived notions, logic, how things actually work, etc. So you have to have a mindset of being tested against the textbook vs being tested against common sense or how you do things. The boot camp helped with that big time.

The PMP guys reluctantly added after Agile became more popular than the stuff they were teaching. The companies I worked with stopped using the PMP stuff once Agile took hold.

I read this as “Pimp” certification.
