Old baw not doing too well medically.

quote:

Caproni said it fell within her discretion to order the early release after a lawyer cited severe medical problems for the 78-year-old Ebbers and said his weight had dropped from above 200 pounds to 147 pounds last week.

quote:

“While Mr. Ebbers is physically alive ... his quality of life is gone,” he said. “If he was released today, Mr. Ebbers is not going to be playing tennis or running a business.”

1st stock I bought back in the dotcom boom. I was 25ish. Put 50% of my $3k portfolio in it. Drank the coolaid. Learned alot at a young age from that experience.

Yes. Got Worldcom when they purchased Skytel. Value went to $0. He deserved prison.

I spent a few hours with him once after he left world comm but before he went to trial.

I interesting guy. The of the fraud was huge so I can’t decide if he crafted it or did someone else. He was the CEO and ultimately responsible.

The story of the ladies in accounting with degrees from Rankin County Community College that uncovered the fraud is remarkable.

His time sentenced vs the Enron guys is sort of outsized.

I never owned it. I met some of their marketing guys in the CART paddock when they and my former employer were sponsors in IndyCar.

The ones I kind of felt sorry for were the employees who made the classic mistake of being over allocated in company stock. So many employees do that with the belief that their company is sound. It goes down a little and they “know” that it’ll come back. Then it tanks and they freeze up and watch it go to 0. You lose your 401K/ESOP and then you lose your job. Double suck.

Wow! He lost over 53 pounds in a week. Not even Weight Watchers can do that....

Yeah this kind of goes with the dont shite where you eat idea. The problem is tons of companies give all kinds of stock as part of their benefits or pay, which I understand completely. The issue though is you should realistically sell a bunch of it as soon as you are vested fully and most don’t.
