I have a two bathroom house. My master bath is meh...I have been thinking about giving it an upgrade in flooring to porcelain and to remove the regular tub with a nice shower. However, I don't have OT money and there is not enough room for both a tub and shower. Is this a turnoff for future buyers years down the road? I would like a modern shower with glass entrance. I would love something like the link below:

Home Depot

Thoughts on this?

Not a problem if you have a tub in the other bathroom.

Yes, guest bath has a regular setup. Currently, it is 100% identical in every way aside from the vanity. Same tile, same tub, same color, etc. Just boring.

I don't know the answer but we took the gamble. We updated all three of our bathrooms. The two guest bathrooms have regular tub/shower setups. My master had a massive jetted tub. I didn't want the big tub and wanted a shower. Like you I didn't have the configuration for both. So we built a huge (4'x8') walk-in shower with rain head, regular shower head, and a bench with a handheld shower setup.

I love the shower. I hope not having a tub in the master bathroom doesn't affect potential resale but with the quality of the shower and the bathroom overall, I can't imagine.

Someone once told me to approach making changes to your own house with the attitude that you are going to live in it forever. Do what will make your home most enjoyable for you, and don't be concerned with what some future owner may or may not want. I followed this advice a number of tines and it always worked out.

Yes in your case pimping out shower would be best use of space/money. If you can add dual vanity + shower by removing tub that would be bonus if you only have single currently. No less than 48" x 30" on shower to make this happen would be my advice

We bought a house as you're describing and do not miss a tub in the master.
The PO sealed a hall closet and extended shower into that space. The shower in the master was our preference as purchasers about 10 years ago.
We replaced everything in the other bathroom, which included a new tub/shower.

We are in the same boat and plan on doing ours in the next 5yrs or so. We have a huge jetted tub and a stand up coffin style shower. We don't have a linen closet in our bath and we never use the tub. We plan on taking the coffin shower out and turning it into a linen closet and replacing the tub with some sort of tiled shower.

Personally, that would be preferable to me if I were looking for a house. I'd much rather have a giant comfy shower and no tub instead of a huge jetted tub and a coffin shower.

I lived in a house for 5 years that had the giant jetted tub and a coffin shower and I can count on both hands the number of times my wife and I used that damned tub. I hated that tub. Give me a huge walk in shower with a rain head mounted HIGH. The 6 and a half footer you sell the house to will thank you.

Of course, others may differ. YMMV.
