Azn is ahead of all competitors in testing of their vaccine. They should be the first vaccine available on the market.
What am I missing??

Didn’t they have questionable results when they reported from the last trial?

Think they had a high rate of complications

Probably because the political pressure and pre negotiated price of the vaccine.

Gilead literally gave away the first million doses of the only approved treatment and then allowed 5 generic companies to begin making it.

No money in a vaccine

Didn’t they agree to produce most, if not all, of it at no profit?

quote:

AstraZeneca continues to build a number of supply chains in parallel across the world, including for Europe. The Company is seeking to expand manufacturing capacity further and is open to collaborating with other companies in order to meet its commitment to support access to the vaccine at no profit during the pandemic.

Probably fancy wording. The pandemic will probably be over (In terms of total % of deaths) before a vaccine is in wide spread use, and instead CV19 will be another annual virus. Then money can be made.

There are about 118 vaccines undergoing testing.
