You mean you took a trip to check on the house and you happened to see your friend while there, right?

But how often is it that simple for someone making $250k for 10+ years? You say something stupid and then argue with the actual experts in almost every single thread on this board.
Like I said, people that make $250k+ spend $1000 on a lot of things dumber than a cpa all the time.
I’m not sorry that someone making that much should have an estate lawyer, financial planner, and cpa. It’s just sage advice. Can you do it all yourself? Sure. It’s really not a lot of money to make sure you are doing it right.
Plenty of doctors spend $15k on a country club, $5k on a landscaper, wife spends $10k at the spa, and then they don’t know where their money went. Like I said, just paying $1k to have someone to bounce a simple question on once or twice a year sure is nice at that net worth.

250k in a hcol area isn’t the baller you think they are.

I used this for years as it is significantly cheaper than TurboTax. Switched to TT a couple years ago when I had a K1 with codes that FTA didn't recognize. I will say TT is much easier with the account linking feature and it removes some of the guesswork in inputting 1099s. That said, it's pretty pricy - enough so that if any additional complication is added to my taxes I'll switch to CPA.
Interesting. Two years ago, after using TT for many years, they did not support the form I needed. I called their customer service, in which I was tremendously disappointed.
I swapped that day to FreeTaxUSA and haven't looked back since.
