My checking account got down to $21 in April because I was throwing everything I could at the market when it was down.

Wait until August my arse.

Exactly!! Always sell when the market hits its peak for that cycle and then buy
when the market hits its low.

No. I buy if it’s going up or down or flat.

The market has been on fire so I'm don't know your YTD is only 10%. My YTD is 22%

The S&P 500 is up about 7.5% YTD. I like how all you investing geniuses claim to have tripled that though.

To be fair everyone that did the opposite of the OPs current suggestion and continued their scheduled contributions is up way more than 7% YTD.

Plausible, I guess… if you didn’t start with much.

My Vanguard account is up almost 15% in the last quarter and I'm sure many here did better than I.

The discussion was YTD. Not off the lows in April.

And is that actual returns or do you have contributions included in that?

In regards to OP, his takes are so wild that I almost imagine he is trying to act foolish on here.

I’m going to keep buying and if it goes down then I will double down on the buying.

I told you. If you get into character before reading his posts it gets better. I read this one in Morgan Freeman’s voice to take it seriously. If you read it using Darth Vader it adds some needed gravitas.

I’m up 11.8% for the year. Beating both the Nasdaq and Dow during the same period.

Or complains about the cost of medical school, while also explaining how fortunate his wife was that her wealthy parents covered her expenses.

His wife is a brain surgeon or something...some kind of medical doctor specialist. She's the bread winner in his house.

His thread topics have included (and I am not making this up):

- "Confusion on how bbb helps high earners?"

- "Capping graduate loans to 150k"

- "Tires cost so damn much these days"

- "Concert ticket prices are out of hand"

- "Summer electric bills are coming in…"

- "What are some brand name items worth the money?"

- "Why are poors for these tax cuts?"

- "When was it acceptable to see your wealth shift"

- "All this so that Honda Civics can cost 50k"

- "Car prices going up again…"

- "Tax season closing for most of us soon"

- "When did you know you capped out in life?"

- "1955 house ad: $7450 for 3B 1B"

- "At what point did you decide a CPA is worth it over TurboTax?"

- "Rolex prices tanking"

- "What things are the best bang for buck used?"

- "Women don’t want expensive items because poors have it"

and, my all-time favorite post of his in a thread started by someone else which was entitled, "How wealthy do you need to be to do certain things":

"My wife made $700,000 last year (her fixed contract ended and performance kicked in)."

My second favorite post of his is: "My Porsche not only has no place to put a phone, but it’s also fricking wired CarPlay so I just put a hot phone on the floor or passenger seat. "
