Are bonuses applied to year they’re earned or the year you receive them

We only now are hearing our 2018 bonuses. Does that apply to 2018 comp if we aren’t getting it for awhile?

Yep. Whatever year it shows up on your W-2 or 1099.

This is what to look for. My Jan. 1 2019 paycheck hits my bank account before then but it won't show up on the 2018 W-2.

Follow the forms.

My coworker just went in hard trying to get me to tell her my bonus.

I was like “I’m sorry but no”.

She’s trying to play it off but you can tell she’s mad
