I read stories all the time on the internet (yes, I know) about people killing it with this business model but it just seems like it's more like the luck of the draw with it. Does anyone here do this and if so are you successful?

Bunch of 16 year olds on YouTube killing the game. Seems like it’s saturated now though.

I remember reading a lot about that 10-15 years ago (when e-commerce was still pretty new). Companies would sell packages of websites. You would buy them, market them, take orders, then basically send the orders to wholesalers or even manufacturers who would then ship directly to the customer. You would get essentially a commission.

I haven't heard that term in at least 5 years. I think with every retailer, and many manufacturers, having direct e-commerce options, it's not a big thing anymore.

I know someone who does this with CBD oil, and she is killing it. Seems a bit like MLM though.

Thought about starting up my own T-shirt company using this method. Partnering with any local artists that earn commission per sale type thing.

That was the main fulfillment model for the hover board craze a couple years ago. I wondered if the agents had to give up all that money after the massive battery recall.

I used to run a site selling a locally owned product. Found a few drop shippers that sold different brands of similar products and used them to have more offerings.

The ones that set minimum retail prices and enforce it are good. Otherwise you don't make enough to be worth listing the product. I made good money before selling the site, and it was virtually no work for the drop shipped items.

With all of the competition it will end up being about how many people visit your site. If you can build a site with lots of traffic you could probably still make money from it.

People are doing it with Amazon. Wife ordered something from Amazon the other day, the package was shipped from Walmart. She checked and it was like 20% cheaper on Walmart.com

if someone wants to put in that much effort to make a buck or two a package, i'm not gonna hate. not worth the effort imo

I agree. It seems like a lot of work for very little revenue.
