Any recs on who gives good rates for a student loan?

You are going to highly regret co-signing any student loans.

Either help them directly or don’t do anything.

Start with the feds. Refinance after graduation if it makes sense to do so.

Don't co-sign unless you feel comfortable taking on their full loan amount (in case they flunk out, can't get a job, etc., etc.).

And if you do co-sign, might want to getting life insurance on them equivalent to the loan amount. I've heard of horror storries of parents co-signing on medical school loans, the student dies, and the parents are now strapped with big med school loans w/o the associated physician salary.

This...taking out a private student loan was not one of my brightest ideas...luckily it was a pittance compared to my federal student loan but the federal loan had a better interest rate, more reasonable forbearance terms, etc.
