Bump
Listened to fox biz yesterday and they were talking airlines.
Said it looks to them like the auto’s back in 08. They got bailed out and things got back to normal and they paid loans back. Stocks did well.
If someone has cash, Airlines/aircraft manuf. is one area to look for value. Everything else looks so damn expensive.
I might get some delta and some boeing

Delta has moved pretty good over the last 45 days.

When the vaccines come out toward the end of the year, I think that will be the major pivot on airlines and the other cv19 devastated sectors. Of course, the turn around won't happen in an instance.
Operation Warp Speed is a smart plan. Phase 3 vaccines that are very promising are having some 300 million doses manufactured now so as soon as the testing and approval is done, it can go into wide distribution immediately.

I had a nice steak in LUV at 37 for a number of years and sold for a nice profit earlier this year. They were one of my market leaders, best in class, long-term sustain revenue and margin growth holdings .
Business travel will not return to pre-Covid levels for at least two or three years if ever. I will sit this one out until plane start ,filling up because I’m on them every week and routes stop getting slashed. Better entry is when routes start getting added.
The cash burn these airlines are facing now it’s crippling.

I will add you can expect airfare rates to start climbing to boost revenue and slow the bleed on cash.

Really? What makes you think so?

Companies have learned they can zoom a 1 hr meeting and network instead of taking 1000 hit for travel.
Those days of flying for meetings are over

Including conventions and trade shows? If so, that would literally cripple convention cities.

Even sales and marketing people? Seems like relationship building is not really personal when doing it virtually.
Not to mention, think of every salespeople in this country. I’d say 99% are extroverted and like going out for sales calls. Are you saying zoom is going to take place of sales meetings? If so, then what does this mean for hotels, airlines and class A office space?

My own thoughts confirmed by airlines CEO's on earning calls and interviews.

Trade shows, for the past 5 years or so, are not new revenue producers. We already know the users of our products. Not many, if any, new users of products are discovered at most trade shows these days. Trade show attendance has been waning for years, outside of tech.

True. But, the relationship sale has been slowly but surely replaced by e-commerce, even in the B2B place. However, there are tons like me that those relationship built sales are strong and will get us to retirement, in spite of constant bombardment of price cutters via email and info blogs.

Big problem, imo, is that if one of the 3 ( AAL, DAL, UAL) file for bankruptcy protection, the other 2 will mostly have to follow suit.
LUV is the only airline I will be willing to touch long term

Very true… Airline industry has a big history of bankruptcy and stakeholders holding the bag

I bought air and cruises during dip and did good but there’s quicker money to be made and have since sold

all airlines are down this morning. is the bottom gonna fall much more? which would you choose to invest in?[/quote]
I bought LUV @ $22 a few months ago. Tough times are ahead for the hospitality industry.......only a few of today's airlines will survive. My free advice, place your money outside of a Covid affected industry through 2021. GL

I was in BA in the 180's for a while, but dumped it because of all my covid hit sectors, it looked like the last to come back. It seems to me that the airlines have to come back first which will take time and then BA will come back. Lost my patience when so many other post covid stocks would crawl back sooner.
I did double down on DAL, LUV, casinos, RCL and such last night for opening this morning.
I thought there would be a bounce today due to the covid vaccine news. My double down buys are all doing better than the rest.
