Yeah I've been watching it for 6-8 weeks. Saw the huge bump but didn't see why it happened. Highly speculative

Because they don't cool datacenter, it doesn't happen and the thought process behind it is ludicrous. Do you know how expensive it is to pull water from the air?
It would literally be more energy efficient to seed the clouds 24/7 with jets and cool the DC with rain.

I'm just thinking out loud here.
-5 L water per 1 kwh
-3000 L / Day. (approx 800 gal)
3000L/5L/kwh = 600 kwh per day for 800 gal.
Large home in summer uses
4000kwh/30 days = 133 kwh/ day
So if your home uses 200 gal/ day, you use an additional 150kwh per day if this is scaled to homes.
I can't see this being scaled to industry anytime soon. Thermodynamics is a barrier.
This seems very inefficient. That's a lot of energy for 800 gal in a day if you ask me.
For data centers, I think you have to have a closed system. Not sure what market they are targeting.

It seems like it works more as a way for tech companies to get around communities and legislators who are skeptical of data center water usage concerns than it is a solution that you would see used at every single data center.
And the water concerns are WAY overblown with them to begin with.
Its interesting stuff and it may jump on hype alone. Just kind of skeptical of the premise.

Water usage shouldn't be a concern at all because they should be mandated to be a closed system. No data center should be using an open system that taps ground water or municipal water. It is idiotic to even think that is ok.
We cool nuclear reactors with a closed system for obvious reasons but just saying cooling high heat producing machines can be done easily with a closed system.
