For that matter just move an hour out from SF. Drive into town when you want to enjoy the amenities. Especially since you're retired, so it's not like you have to wait until after work.

He didn’t want to retire, he wanted to not work his job anymore and he has a damn blog or whatever that makes him money. I guarantee you he isn’t that retired and travels for his consulting or blog or whatever.
