I know plumbers, carpenters, and directional drillers making twice that. And they aren't even 25. It's just not a huge amount of $$ these days.

But he wants to pursue his dream and I respect that. Just hope it wasn't all about the SB.

Signing with the pirates is the quickest way to get on a contender by your mid 20's

Well at least now PM can get someone else in here, instead of doing like Turtle did. Have the best recruiting class to never come to LSU. It sucks, but perhaps we can catch a break with Colvin and Heathcott now. If they leave, then back to other recruits. When a guy says he is coming, that is always a bad sign, as we have been burned in the past. Good luck ZVR.

Sad, but true. And after Uncle Same max taxes his SB his 10 year average pay for this deal is roughly $100K with his crap salary. To those who say it's a life changing amount of money I call bullshite.

but the goal is to be in the bigs in 4-5 years. Then if he proves himself there he'll mkae 10-12 million a yr. Coming to LSU will delay him in doing this. He has the money to get started. If he gets hurt, still has the money and can come ot school, get an degree and earn a living this way. No one is saying he never has to work again b/c of his SB. When you are a professional athlete you are always playing for your next contract.

He'll regret this decision just as much Winchester does

Winchester? Are you talking about a stud catcher from Rummel that signed pro around 2000?

That would be true for most. I wish him well. He asked for 1st round money and got it. Cudo's to him.

Jeez, a million bucks is nothing to turn down. The problem is that he has signed with an organization that is a total zero. Best of luck to the kid, he will need all he can get.

This is EXACTLY what happens when you offer scholarships to dudes that are going to be drafted that high. I don't know why we waste scholarships on people that are going to get drafted in the top 3-7 rounds.

he will become too expensive for Pittsburgh, then get traded to contending NYY, Bost, Atl, SF, Cali, LA, Chi clubs, Philly, Det,etc..for three prospects.

i dont see why people keep saying this

the Pirates are prob the most poorly ran franchise in baseball.

why would u want to play for them?

as a young pitcher, who may happened to get called up early(for his sake i hope not), do you know how emotional draining it is to play for a shitty team? Esp if he is pitching good???

and people keep saying, "he'll get traded to a contender anyway"......Uhhh no, there is a good chance he doesnt get traded. They are trying to build from the bottom up...they arent trading prospects....they are trading veterans to GET prospects.
