what would be worse is his committing to Alabama and completely humiliating us for three years

Would he choose Alabama over LSU? He should at least consider football if he doesn't make the MLB

5.5 million before taxes. How much would he have made had he stayed in school and been a first round NFL draft pick?

That's a huge "if". $5.5 MILL in hand >>>>>>> possibly being a good college QB.

Lee had committed to playing baseball and football at Louisiana State University and enrolled in summer school. He was considered a tough signing due to his football commitment and reportedly dropped in the draft as a result. However, he did sign with the Dodgers, for $5.25 million.

Lee made his debut in the Dodgers organization for the Great Lakes Loons in the class A Midwest League in 2011. He made 24 starts for the Loons, finishing with a 9–6 record and 3.47 ERA. He was promoted to the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to start 2012. He was 2–2 with a 4.55 ERA for the Quakes in 12 starts and was promoted to the AA Chattanooga Lookouts on June 25, 2012. He started off slowly with the Lookouts but improved as the season went on thanks to tweaking his delivery. He finished 4–3 with a 4.25 ERA for the Lookouts.

In 2013, Lee was selected to the mid-season Southern League All-Star Game and finished the season 10–10 with a 3.22 ERA in 28 games, including one complete game shutout. He also struck out 131 batters. Lee was named the Dodgers "Minor league pitcher of the year" for 2013.

Lee was promoted to the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes for the 2014 season. He made 27 starts for the Isotopes and had a record of 7-13 with a 5.44 ERA.

On November 20, 2014, he was added to the Dodgers 40 man roster in order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft.

He seems to be doing alright for himself. The word "promoted" was used three times before he was added to the 40 man roster.

I understand I'm just speculating. Money aside being a starting QB at a big time SEC school has to be a more fun way to spend your early 20s than toiling away playing minor league baseball.

But yeah guaranteed money right out of high school is hard to pass up on.

Why regret it? He made a million+ bucks.

I guess he could've always played in a Les Miles offense and make league minimum and get the shite beat out of him in the NFL and make less money.

Plus, he is 23. Dude still has 3-4 years to make the majors.

He's a very highly valued minor league prospect and could make some spot starts in the pros soon. I think he made the right call

I'm sure he does, but minor league baseball? Hard to imagine that's a better experience than even playing college baseball would be.

Seeing how he enrolled in school, can he even come back and play? I don't know how eligibility works, but I would assume he has none left. I was under the impression your eligibility starts for all sports as soon as you enroll, Is this not the case?

How is it humiliating to LSU fans for a high school student to choose professional baseball over attending college? I wasn't humiliated, dissapointed maybe. These athletes make decisions that they feel are best for themselves. No reason for fans to get their feelings hurt when they don't choose what's in our perceived best interests. Oh the indignity of them making a decision I don't like.
