He knelt. Period. That’s what he did during the portion of his job when it would be inappropriate for him to voice his opinion. He literally did nothing.

Later, during the portion of his job during which he is required to field questions solely for the purpose of offering his opinion, he answered the questions posed.

There were rumors that when Reid was at LSU he was racist. Had several heated exchanges with white players on the team. Got this from someone I know who was a walk-on. He said assistant coaches had to often calm him down.

Rumors huh? Seems convenient...

I guess if the argument is tough you can always move towards personal attack and rumor.

It reminds me of the Rahem Alem situation. I'm not puting Reid in the same category as Alem, as Alem had mental problems and was later hospitalized after his playing days. Reid is an intelligent young man who has the skills to play in the NFL a long time but has to realize the NFL has no part in any alleged social injustice. People of all colors want to enjoy the game as Americans without the turmoil.

How do people as willingly ignorant as you get thru life?
Reid disrespects the flag/anthem & our military. They very people who won & now ensure Reid's freedom to pursue his chosen career, are the ones he displays hostility & ,contempt to.
And you think he's a hero.

Your worship of a mere football player is childish, misguided & unhealthy.
Maybe one day if you grow up, you'll realize the high cost of freedom. And that many have died or come home maimed to preserve the freedom for your friend to play a game.
Visited any retired military homes any time,? Didn't think so.
Put Reid on a real battlefield & he'd pee his pants when bullets start flying. Who's the tough guy now?
Who's the real snowflake now?

Explain to me how... how is he showing his feelings are hurt by other ppls' opinions? He stated the obvious and the only comeback you have is "isn't that exactly what you're doing on this thread".. and you literally didn't think that thru, did you? No you didn't. Your comment made no sense. Shut up. Sit down. Log out.

Reid isn’t disrespecting the military; at least, I certainly don’t feel offended nor should any of my coworkers.

It isn’t “willfully ignorant” to acknowledge the man is raising a specific point and to address that point and that point alone. It was never about the military. It was about his view that America needs to work on some issues and he knelt to call attention to that.

Willful ignorance is conflating his stance with an attack against the military, which was never part of his platform. It’s also misguided. The flag represents the military member no more so than it represents the President, Congressman, lawyer, teacher or homeless vagrant (as long as they are a citizen). The military departments have their own flags.

I’m not defending Ash’s statement; it was clearly antagonistic. That said, I’ve visited those homes you mention and know many retirees. The high cost those men—and those serving today—pay is to protect freedoms, not to stamp them out. Extending that, we fight for, and swear an oath to, the Constitution. The words carried within that document are what we protect. Freedom of speech and equality of all are key tenets.

Stay on point.

The ability of some LSU fans to identify systemic problems and suppression in a situational manner is astounding. Probably has something to do with whether the particular issue affects them personally.

Welcome to your very own reality show... where overrated, overpaid athletes kneel with clenched fists while on the job (against job regs) to protest.....what?
Real people are sick of these punks & their hostility toward the flag, military & anthem
Reid's good friend Kap was quoted "I am not going to stand & show pride for a country that oppresses black people...there are bodies in the street & people (,police) getting paid leave & getting away with murder"
NFL.com quoted to Steve Wyche

You see Kap & his buddies made it about the flag as a symbol of oppression from the beginning. If you could stay on point you would know this.
They have done nothing but show disdain & ,contempt for the country that provides them a multi-million dollar salary.
Your willing ignorance to ignore the reality of these ingrates & support this bullshite & ridicule those of us for whom the flag& anthem mean something shows your intolerance.

For most of us, those that really do stay on point our police & ,military & America as a whole & represented by the flag has freed more oppressed people around the globe & done more to destroy slavery than any country on the planet.
Too bad you cannot understand the simple facts.
It was always about the flag etc. as symbols of the terrible oppression of football players.

So stop ridiculing those of us who respect our flag our anthem our military & our country. And disrespects willingly ignorant football players who raise a clenched fist toward the things we hold dear.

Stay on point.
Stay on point.

No use for Eric Reid anymore. He has been a pampered athlete since his high school days in Dutchtown! Shut up, do your JOB, and then protest on your own time! Everyone has the freedom of speech but just because you play football you do not have the right to be put on National TV and do it on Company time!
