My honest gut feeling is that we can easily win this if we play to our ability. We have so many good players and we are getting smarter and smarter every week.

That being said...I think it will be close.

Crowton comes into this game w/ a simplified game plan, one that focuses on a narrow number of formations and plays, but one that leads w/ running the ball.

The worst thing that can happen is to put the offense, JJ in particular, in a position to fail early--1st qtr turnover that leads to a TD is the worst-case scenario. Therefore, be willing to take your lumps early on offensively to help get your OL into a run-blocking rhythm, win field position, and survive that initial wave of emotion from Bama and their crowd.

As for running, pound it early w/ Scott, maybe also Ridley. Wear them down a bit, then gradually transition to more play action and, finally, interject more Shep and Holiday to take advantage of a tiring Bama front seven.

Naturally, you take a shot down the field on occasion, but do so on a set drop and throw it where only your WR can get it (i.e., 5 step and let it rip, and go over the outside shoulder of LaFell or Tolliver...if you 1st read isn't there, tuck and run if you have a gap or, for God's sake, please throw it into the stands).

As for the D, let's hope that Saban is serious about taking his shots down the field, too, as that presents INT opportunities and helps win the field position battle.

Bottom line: If the play calling starts out conservative, then gradually loosens, and JJ stays disciplined, we can win.

We resort to that meekrat bullshite and JJ holding onto the ball for 10 seconds, and it's another close yet very unsatisfying loss.

oh. so you think the "the next game w eplay is the biggest" philosophy is better? we kill coaches for giving coach speak, then kill them for being honest giving actual answers.... fricked either way i guess

this is pretty much the worst gameplan ever for this game

For once SFP, we are in agreement. I want Crowton to pass into the blitz, exposing the secondary left without safety help. Hell, I want to go so extreme that I want to see some five wide. Welcome the blitz and throw quick reads and let our receivers make plays.

Only run to keep the defense honest. Pass to set up the run.

if we win by running, we will have to get a bunch of lucky arse plays or just hope for a full blown bama meltdown

Either that or Shep goes off in a way that it seems that we think we're watching his recruiting video. Which isn't likely, but it would be cool.

I just think we're gonna expose the weakness of the Bama defense, the secondary. Just keep throwing.

Can't quite explain it, but I have a feeling that tonight is going to be a good night. I think we'll not only win, but also play a game that we'll be proud of for some time. I don't mean a dominant performance. Just an all-out, balls-to-the-wall (a la Florida in 2007) heart felt win.

Anything can happen. There is no prohibitive favorite. Geaux Tigers!!

That's what I'm thinking. And I'll be at a damned wedding. I hate living in Texas. These people keep scheduling weddings during CFB season. Get married in the spring.
