Your first impression of Miles when you knew he was our HC

The first thing I ever did was to check out the Youtube "Let 'er Rip" comment vs. OU. I thought at that point, despite hardly knowing who the man was, that he was an aggressive,over-confident, pushy, ballsy bastard. I kind of liked that. I thought he might be a guy similar to, ironically, Woody Hayes. He looked, in that video, like type of guy who might just fly off the edge at any moment and maybe punch a player or two.
3.8 million bucks later, he's been the absolute opposite of what I thought I had seen. As soon as I saw the Madonna headset in the '05 opener in Tempe, I sort of knew then what kind of guy he really was. I chalked it up to having his first premier job, but his demeanor has been the same since.
I'm not asking "who do you want to replace Miles?" in this thread. I was just curious to read what many of you thought he was going to be the first minute you heard he was our next head coach at LSU.

This and why are the Okie State fans glad to get rid of him. And then on a fateful Monday night,"Where is my wife?" It was all answered in that one statement. Why is he worried about his wife instead of the task at hand? If he any sense he would know she was in a suite getting waited on like a queen.

I couldn't have put it better myself

I don't think many knew who he was.
I live in OK and not many OKState fans cared that he was leaving.
First time I saw him out there, I wasn't too happy. He wasn't physical enough for a coach.

I'd heard that we were looking at Les Miles and Mike Leach, and I told my friends that both were idiots and wouldn't last at LSU.
I was right. Les Miles isn't good enough to be LSU's coach.

My first reaction was, "Skip hired a guy that blew a 35-7 halftime lead over Texas & just got blasted 33-7 by Ohio State in the Alamo Bowl. Damn you Skip!"
When I heard Miles' speech as his LSU introduction, I knew we were screwed. It was as painful to listen to as this year's team was to watch.

Another question. What did u think at the time he announced he was staying? Have a great day speech. I was happy. After saban, loyalty was a change and he was ballsy. Faced the media and treated them like kids. Not turning want into a noun. I was glad

are we fair weather fans for feeling this way? I would like to see that fire and pissed off persona everyday from him. Especially if he would use it on the players and coaches.

Not at all. He has changed. So have our opinions. I'm an lsu fan not a miles fan. I haven't missed a game at least on tv in 15 years. Not just during the good times. I've seen what shitty coach looks like and what a winner looks like. Miles ain't it

The only coaches in my lifetime at LSU that has brought great success was Bill Arnsbarger and Nick Saban. As goofy as Miles is he would still have a chance to be really successful. But he has to surround himself with good people. The kids love him, the parents love him, and the high school coaches love him. This leads to great recruiting and should lead to championships. I really think the program is going down, BUT if he would bring in a young OC with new ideas things could turn around quickly.

Sorta reminded me of Max Headroom.

Someone needs to tell coaches to stop doing all of the Ford Truck commercials, etc. They all seem, at LSU, to go downhill after that...in Hallman's case - never able to get off the starting block.

I knew LSU would get a leftover, because Saban resigned so late.
