On further viewing, Gordon is angling towards the left sideline, so his body should have been between the DB and the ball. So if Jennings could have thrown an accurate pass and kept it low, good chance of a completion and 1st/TD. So the million dollar question is did AJ simply not see him, see him and decided Dural was a better option, or did AJ see him but not trust his mechanics to make the throw and chose Dural as the safer option?

Example: Wide open Gordon for TD, AJ can't see him over the middle.

Meh, safety was waiting to pop him or take it 100 yds the other way

Les fans will accuse the piglets of cheating instead of blaming the nimrod for being too stupid to change signals

Lol that is more than 3 yards open. Gordon is between the 3 and 4 yard line while the defender is at least 2-3 yards deep. That's pretty much wide open for a man of his size.

I think everyone can agree that the LSU offense is not very good.

Look at the two Defenders that completely ignored him. Why? Because the D is covering two guys, the fullback who is peeling off the RT, and Dural. They knew AJ would not see the TE, but have a Safety just in case to stop him at the goal line. The ball should be in his hands, thrown as soon as the QB sees those two selling out on the Fullback. That would give Gordon time to turn upfield and truck the S in route to a TD. Only one problem, our QB doesn't see.

And looking closer, if he took off at that point, Gordon likely turns and blocks that S and AJ walks in. Only person with a shot is that S, blocked by 285 lb TE, and the DT Washington appears to have a good block on.

Would you bother covering our TEs if you were them?

And the ball should have either been in his hands or on the way to him by then.

AJ couldn't even see a wide open field for him to run for the first against Bama, so not seeing this is far from surprising

Don't get me started on that play. 4th down, game on the line, pass up the first down run to throw into double coverage in the back of the end zone. frick me

AJ will see all of this in film and understand it but then boom it will happen again vs a&m. He studies the film and the same shite happens over and over.

The problem with the Gordon piece is both LBs evacuating Gordon and going to Neighbors, it was a busted play by Arkansas that we didn't expose. To act like he had a release off the line that was uncovered is diff. But he def. should not have thrown it to Dural. He had a wide open throwing lane to Gordon.

We obviously don't teach our TEs to sit down and shield out the defender. If so he could've sat on the first down marker for a week.

That is about as wide open as it gets in that area of the field unless a DB falls down.

Maybe but it's really only a 6-7 yard pass from scrimmage to Gordon.

Yep, it's a first down for sure.
