I've been following LSU and college football for 30 years and what I currently see on the field is GARBAGE. also, for those of you saying Miles is equal or better than Saban just makes yourself look that much dumber. Saban took over a losing program and made it a National Champion. Miles took over an elite program loaded with talent and two years separated from a NC and is driving it into medocrity.

I have nothing to prove, and i'm not bragging. I'm just stating facts, like i have tried to do on this thread....fwiw...it probably doesn't have a lot to do with my wrinkly dick or my looks...probably has more to do with being a winner in life...whether with personality and/or career.....just saying...

Who the frick talks like this? Really? You're a pot of comedic gold fella.

Miles, in five years, has had three seasons better than that. In addition, he is currently 7-1, and that is the best record lsu has had at this time of the year in 37 years.

Wow, you would be more beleivable if you didn't make things up. (LSU has had a record as good or better than this at least a half dozen times during the time frame you cite.)

okay...please enlighten me where i was wrong....I simply said miles currently has the best record of any team in the past 37 years at this particular time of the year (7-1)....please tell me where they have had a better record during that time? you basically called me a liar...so prove me wrong.......btw....saying they have the best record, does not mean other records were not equal...but none better...unless of course you prove me wrong...i'll be waiting and gladly admit i was wrong........

last 2 seasons plus this season so far.

Saban 33-3 overall
21-2 in the SEC
1-1 in SECCG
1-1 in BOWL GAMES including 1 NC

Miles 24-10 overall
12-9 in the SEC
0 SECCG's
1-1 in bowl games

Yeah, Saban has had a couple more WTF type losses than Miles, but it sure looks like 1 coach is superior, while the other coach is mediocre.

ETA: Saban/Bama still control their own destiny this season...Mile/LSU does not.

and when lord saban was here we were elite......well really now.....where we elite?

Maybe it had to do with the fact we had the number 3 recruiting class in 2001, number 1 recruiting class in 2003, and number 3 (should have been number 1) class in 2004. Saban established LSU as an elite program and I think its fair to say Miles took over a top 5 program. Do you still think LSU is still a top 5 program?

quote:

Let's also look at the fact lsu has had SEVEN total top 5 finishes in the history of LSU.....Miles has THREE of them, or almost half. Saban has ONE

First....I give full credit to Miles for these three top 5 finishes, someone has to coach these players. But the LSU program was in great shape when Miles took over.

The problem is that the program is no longer in great shape. We've only beaten one top ten team since 2008 (And that was a very overrated Auburn team).....forget top 5, we're not even a top ten football program anymore.

LOL...there we go again....elite means out of five years....four of them had THREE losses or more....lol....and i am to assume these three top 5 finishes and current #12 ranking and 7-1 record with major bowl possibilities is mediocre and garbage......so see guys, it's not always the youngsters that have serious intelligence problems....I guess being a business school guy i see everything by the numbers...how dumb of me.

WHAT? you mean now we have excuses whey we were in a bad qb situation????

Miles lost 5 the year after his QB "left early". Also, while you can certainly blame Saban for not having a better backup than Marcus Randall, he had 2 very good freshman on the team who went on to have good careers here. Contrast that with what Miles had behind RP. To reiterate, Miles's backup to 5th year senior Matt Flynn was constant problem RP, a Harvard backup, and 2 freshmen. Saban's backup for 4th year junior Matt Mauck was a backup who went 9-3 and two freshman who were eventually drafted.

Here is a FACT, lsu had more first and second team all pre-season sec guys on their team than anyone EVER in the SEC...at any school...and they lost three games...and you call that rebuilding....lmao.

Mauck, Clayton, Henderson, Peterson, Hill, Lavalais, Alexander...
We were certainly rebuilding.

quote:

of course not, who can debate the saban lovers....of course, unless you want to compare wins/losses...but hell, who counts those...i tell you this though...that saban gives a mean press conference and he has the look of a real coach...lol....shiny rim guy...lol

That's right. I'm the silly one for thinking that Saban fielded better teams than what Miles does.

So I thought you were going to come back and tell me how wrong i was about 2004 with FACTS

We all have access to the same facts. You just draw poor conclusions from your "analysis" of those facts.

Just to remind you:
2004: 6-2 in the SEC
2008: 3-5 in the SEC
2009: 4-4 in the SEC

There's many good posts on this thread, but your post is on top. One thing this 53 year OLD man would like to add. - We are indeed as close to the top and considered "elite" as you say, as we've ever been. If we were not, or should I say, if we were like we were up until the last eight or nine years, the media would barely even be mentioning the so called coaching blunders. I think if we were not an elite football power, this message board would be a better place for true, die hard fans, like me and you.
But I prefer to keep Miles, remain elite, and continue putting up with these foul mouthed band wagon jumpers.

Finally, might I add, LSU is currently ranked #12 in the nation with a great chance at moving back into the top 10 this week, and is in great position to win out and go to at least a BCS game

LSU will lose two and possibly three more games prior to a bowl.

With Saban our team at least looked like they new what they were doing and had disipline, not to mention that Miles has only won a national championship with Saban's assistant coaches Pelini and Fisher

Miles has been equal to if not better than the recruiting of saban...there has been no dropoff there...or in wins. Yes, I still think LSU is a top 5 program.....their recruiting speaks of that. Regardless of records this year, the top teams in the country imo are alabama, florida, lsu, texas, oklahoma and ohio state....it used to be usc but i think you will see that no more....that is it imo as far as elite teams.....

I don't agree with this at all, but that is my opinion just like it is yours...neither one of us know what will happen......all we can go on is what has happened.....and 58-16 and all the hardware is damn good..

I've been watching LSU football since Irving pray was the coach. In my opinion, the program started to go downhill after Mike Donahue left and they quit hiring ivy league alumni for coaches. Those coaches had serious football wisdom.

So what you're saying is that LSU, under Saban, was never an elite team. Yet LSU, under Miles, is an elite team?

lmao...not only does this kid choose to leave out 2005-2007 in his analysis.....he can't even get his data that he does use right...it was 5-3 in sec in 2009 btw.....

I compare ALL data...i don't pick and choose....Five years, four had three losses or more.......miles in five years had three years with two losses.....working on a 4th in six.....

Let me also say...i think saban is a good coach....just you guys totally lose site of his actual accomplishments at lsu.
