There have been people on here that have said they've already received texts with Florida player's numbers encouraging them to call so maybe, just maybe, there are people doing this.
Maybe there are...I'm simply asking that before we tarnish the ENTIRE LSU fanbase (yet again) we ask Florida to step up and name names and give those numbers to the authorities so that the people doing it can be called out. If it's happening, this ought to be easy. If it's not, it'll shut that shite down fast. If it's LSU fans, shame on them and a big frick YOU for making us all look bad.
But this bullshite about calling out the entire LSU fanbase for what amounts to a handful of idiots has gotten to be too much.

if you are willing to talk trash to someone by text, you should be able to say to his face, and deal with the consequences. otherwise, it's pretty chickenshit

This.

How the hell is it justified to "label" an entire fanbase on the actions of maybe a handfull.
The texters are probably college students.
What do you expect? It is the time of life to be "in your face." Be "radical"
I have seen tons of well wishes extented to Tebow and his injury from LSU fans. Why isn't this the story.
One drunk in a church...and thats who everyone talks about.

Seems like no more effort than going to the press about it.
I personally would rather see these dipshits exposed, if people really are texting "threats" to other players.
This again. It's overkill to tell the police or press the numbers, but not overkill to run to the press to talk about it in the first place?

So which one do you think is more likely?
Florida players scheming together to make us look bad in the media OR some LSU fans doing what they've been doing for 3 years now?
ETA: if you're more upset at Rome for generalizing us all as a "fanbase" like we are all alike than at the people actually doing these childish pranks then oh well. Rome is still right.

Before the internet, I'd have said this was 100% the work of LSU fans as described by the Florida players. But...I've seen far too many WAAAAAY eggagerated stories float around on the 'net to take ANYTHING at face value anymore when it comes to the passionate following of college football.
If I had a gun to my head, I'd say that it's likely to be a small handfull of typically idiotic LSU fans trying to emulate the Tebow stunt form 2 years ago. My problem is that without Florida coming forward and giving the numbers to authorities we have no idea how many people we're tlakinga bout...assuming it's going on. And by refusing to do so, the entire LSU fanbase gets labeled rather than what's most likely 10-20 fricking idiots.
Aall that being said, I don't care about this issue one way or the other. this is fodder for sports radio and ESPN...neither of which I listen to AT ALL. I'm interested in the actual game...I leave the soap opera stuff to the ladies.

You edited this before I responded so I'll take this here.
I'm not upset at Rome at all. I have no concern at all for what the guy says. I don't listen to him or watch his show. What he says about LSU, her fans, or any other sports topic for that matter does not effect me in the slightest. Until this rises to the level of something actually happening (a real threat, etc) then it's simply drama to give reporters something to gab about. No thanks...
I'm actually more upset with LSU fans who seem all to eager to automatically throw the entire fanbase under the bus any time someone makes a claim. Look...I'm VERY tough on LSU fans. I absolutely HATE a huge amount of their boorish behavior, and have on numerous occasions put myself between a poor acting LSU fan and a visiting fan when I felt it was appropriate. But I'm not willing to autmatically believe each and every claim made by anyone is a position to bitch simply because they make them. I've also seen far too much ridiculously cordial behavior from my fellow LSU fans to toss them all under the bus with the bad.

quote:No where has it been said that this year, they are texting "threats". Those are your words and an exaggeration that takes nothing more than a few posts like this to start circulating on the Internet and becoming urban legend. The reports are that there is "taunting", good natured jabbing, about the game...NOT THREATS.
if people really are texting "threats" to other players.

Any negative fuel will be exploited by ESPN you can bet your money on it, but they are also good on covering up other things when it concerns their biases.

It is just plain STUPID to do what a lot of you GUYS are doing out there, you know who you are, then when Fla plays hard against LSU and wins, you maggots want to CRY.
I agree the phone thing is stupid and childish. But its not like a nintendo game where the florida team is going to get an automatic power boost to make them play harder because of this issue. If they cant get up for this game just cuz its #1 vs #4, an SEC battle, and the last two teams to win the last three BCS NC's then they need to just stay home.
