Tennessee ran him off the mound.

It's almost like development may not be linear.

I said the same thing to my dad during the game. That kids stuff would play anywhere.

He entered the game against us with no pressure and an already decided outcome. He entered the Tennessee game down 3 runs in the 6th, so still a game. Making his first appearance as a freshman. There are a ton of things outside of the talent on either opponent roster that could have played into the difference in performance.
Regardless, it looks like he's got potential.

So he was facing their starters and our backups? I'm sure I am wrong, but I think it was mostly backups with limited ABs.
It was still impressive what he did.

IDK, the last "really good" pitcher we got from Xavier left a lot to be desired.

You're not wrong. He struck out Arimbede, John Pearson, Costello, Frey, and Paul.

Thanks.. I mean that's still impressive to K them all, but the starting lineup was hot. I would be more impressed had he done it against the starters.

Xavier has 3 freshman pitchers they're going baptism by fire on. The one this thread inspired pitched against Tennessee and LSU. But the two others each faced Oregon State twice, Stanford, Tennessee, and LSU. One of them also threw against Vandy.
All of their stats are fricking awful. But each of them has had one or two outings that has shown promise. Their coach put together a brutal schedule, and is absolutely testing his players. He's built a pretty consistent program, so I don't think he's just throwing these guys out there as grist for the mill. He's trying to fastrack their development. Could pay big dividends for them when they drop down in competition during conference play.
