Tremont will be good as usual I expect naz to do well, kavell and sky to perform their usual. The X factor in this game I believe will be Javonte smart whether he can handle the pressure knock a few shots down and not turn it over.

UK is long on defense. I expect they'll play a lot of zone and make it hard to get in the paint. We'll need to knock down some shots from 3 to loosen up that zone and get some offensive rebounds to get 2nd chance points.

UK does not play zone and they won't this game either. We will have to beat them man to man.

The X factor in this game

Jump shooting, we have got to hit open shots to stay in the game. Can’t afford to fall behind big again.

UK is too good and long. They don't need to play zone (unless someone has a great night and is just killing them with penetration).

I think Smart may be the X factor, but it would be on defense. He'll take some dumb chances, but I think he is LSU's best perimeter defender. (1) he's athletic and (2) he's competitive as hell and WANTS to lock you down if he feels doing so is a challenge. The game vs. Auburn really changed in the second half when he started guarding Harper. Harper was 4-5 from 3 in the first half. He was 1-3 in the second half with Smart as his primary defender.

Smart will be big in helping defend Herro and Johnson. I also like him in big games. He's a guy who absolutely does not shy away from the spotlight or a challenge.

Keeping our bigs out of early foul trouble, to me, is the ultimate factor. If we lose Bigby early, we are in bad shape.

UK has big guards. For some reason I believe that plays better for LSU defensively. That is our defenders should have the foot speed to keep them in front and make them shoot over the top and prevent a lot of drives into the paint.

On the offensive side of the ball with the quickness of Waters and Smart they should be able to drive to the paint, attract the UK trees and dish to Bigby or Naz for easy buckets. At least that seems like a good plan. Lol.

LSU dominates against teams running man. We are far too athletic and our Pick & roll/ Pick & pop game is too good with Naz and Tremont for teams to stop it consistently. Couple that with back screens lobs to Marlon ( ), and just pure isolation with any one of our guys, running man against LSU is not the best strategy.

Emmitt Williams is our most important player tonight, IMO.

We are an extremely aggressive defensive team playing a Kentucky team in Rupp that is top 25 in FTa/FGa. There is a decent chance we have some front court foul trouble. However...if Williams can play strong as the 4 against PJ Washington and we can play Naz at the 5, I think Naz and Tremont can kill Travis out on the perimeter.

While it seems like we struggle significantly with some zone defenses, other coaches must not feel that way. We haven’t faced too much zone this year and Kentucky, who is the best defense in the league running almost entirely man, isn’t going to scrap what they do and play zone against us. Might not be a bad idea, but it won’t happen.

The X factor will be the damn refs. If they call an even game and not be set on constantly helping the home team we have a chance. If the refs let them play instead of calling ticky tacky calls then we’ll have a chance.
