In the future, when a game cannot be played as a home game, the game must be played at the visiting team's field no later than the Sunday of the following week.No exceptions.

You have to make 3 quarters in the glass to make a rule.

The rule needs to focus on FORFEITURE not on the game. Therefore the pressure is on the hosting team to come to a quick resolution within X number of days for reschedule.

In other words, if the game is cancelled by the home team, they automatically accept forfeiture if game not rescheduled within X days of cancellation.

He's right. You gotta make 3 before you get to make a rule.

How about this rule:

The presidents and/or ADs of the two schools have 6 hrs to submit options to each other come to a conclusion, after that the SEC commissioner will do his fricking job and review all options presented in those 6 hrs and pick one.

Rules are for people who don't know what they are doing!

People who require rules can't think for themselves or use common sense.

I think that describes this situation. The people in charge failed miserably in this area.

Would there have been any problem in tentatively resetting the game for Sunday or Monday and, then, see what the conditions actually were? I don't think anyone can really dispute the decision to postpone from Saturday - even though the weather never really got bad enough to have actually caused cancellation. I just don't understand why it wasn't put the next day or two. If the devastation had been too bad, then those "tentative" dates could have been postponed, too.

Sounds good but make it the Forfeiture Rule so it is clear what the end result is after 6 hrs. or whatever

Wrong. Rules exist bc people are selfish.

There does need to be a rule if a possible disaster is coming within the week they need to mandate moving the game to a neutral location

Period

Yes. There would be a problem with that. Notably, this cancellation had nothing to do with weather and everything to do with Florida's injuries along the D-line.

Everyone suggesting a rule with automatic forfeiture or any rigid if-thens is an idiot. There should be no rule. The SEC should judge each case on its merits.

Better Rule:

In the instance of a known disturbance the hosting team has 3 options that must occur within 72hrs.
1.) Play the game at scheduled location within 72 hr time frame
2.) Hosting team schedules game at an alternative venue (opposing team's stadium or neutral site).
3.) Forfeit

Exception to the rule - loss of life

But I agree that a rule should be in place to help govern these sorts of issues. It was a hurricane that we knew about a week in advance. Stankey obviously cant get it done so we need to make a rule so that we dont rely on the incompetence of the SEC front office.

Well the point is you are the idiot, what SHOULD happen and WHAT does happen is what we are talking about, FIXING it Permanently is the answer but that may be too straight forward for you

Not going to happen. You really think they overlooked putting a rule in place. The reason there is no rule is to allow them to analyze each situation to determine the best financial outcome without being held to a rule. SEC is an entertainment business.
