The reason being we should all email him and let him know that we do not appreciate him putting down on our Tigers that way on national tv.
Jesus Christ this entire thread is so dumb. Are you guys really that upset that GG said that LSU has issues at WR???
First of all, WE DO. We have ONE receiver who has proven anything on the field, which he said. After that we have a lot of talent based on potential out of high school but no one who has done it week in and week out in the SEC.
I mean, if any of you have been convinced by what Toliver has done you are idiots. The dude was the #1 ranked WR receiver out of high school two years ago and has only 32 catches in his career. That isn't exactly setting the world on fire. Look at what Julio and AJ Green were able to do in their freshman years. TT still has A LOT to prove.
Randle, Molton, and Tolliver also all look very promising, but again they haven't done anything yet. With a young QB coming in, it would be nice to have a more experienced group of receivers for him to rely on rather than a young group that is learning right along with him.
Anyone who heard the interview and isn't an oversensitive idiot wouldn't have a problem with what he said.
I hate GG too, but he didn't say anything worth getting pissed about.
Bash away.

I am amazed by people who don't agree with this. The only thing TT has proven is that he's tall. Our WR situation was ripe for somebody to step up both last year and in '07, and TT never did. He might wind up being a 1st rounder, but as of now, he hasn't done a whole lot. And for the #1 WR of his class, I dare say he's been pretty much a bust.

The "troubles" at WR was the guy throwing the ball last year. that guy will not be throwning the ball this year, not at LSU anyway.

According to ESPN's College Football Live
No. It's according to Glen Gilbeau. And the fact that ESPN chose to give him air time doesn't make him any less an incurable LSU basher than he is when he's spouting his nonsense in The Shreveport Mallshopper.

IMO, I agree with the assessment that we only have 1 proven WR (Lafell); however, I think anyone would have a hard time arguing that we don't have a "talented" group of WRs based on potential.
TT has been progressing but I do think the QB issues last year hurt his improvement; however, I really liked what I saw at the end of the year. Cmitch has produced some when called upon. RR, CTolliver, Peterson, Molton, etc... have good talent but have NO game production so the jury is still out on them.
Long Story Short, IMO LSU coaches are happy with their WR group, but they definitely need a few guys to live up to their potential this year for the offense to be successful.

Our passing game will go as far as our QB and Line play will take us; WR is not the problem.

The problem I have with what Guilbeau said has to do with the question that was asked. Beat writers from each of the SEC schools were asked the same question, "what is the team's biggest concern coming out of spring practice"?
LSU's biggest concern is wide receiver?
While there may be some questions there, the bigger questions seem to be whether or not our quarterback(s) can get them the ball, or possibly how well our defensive line plays after losing more key players than the WR corps did. All in all it was a stupid segment for GG. ESPN gave him about 15 seconds of air time, and he wasted half of it trying to tell some lame Les Miles/twitter joke.

I hear what you're saying, and you seem to be very reasonable about the piece, but honestly I didn't mind it because everyone knows about our questions at QB and DL. Its been beaten to death.
WR, on the other hand, is a legitimate concern that no one seems to realize or acknowledge is a concern at all, as evidenced by the two lengthy threads on the piece, so I kind of like the issue being raised on a prominent stage.
ESPN wears stories out, so if he would have taken that 15 seconds to say, yeah, LSU has issues on DL and QB, I would have actually seen that as wasting the opportunity because CFL has already talked at length about those positions.
And yeah, his joke was totally lame.

i think we will be fine. the ole miss hype is legit imo

We don't have WR troubles at all. Also, stop complaining about the Ole Piss hype. It doesn't get them any wins, it's just talk. If hype won anything USC would have been playing UGA for the title last year.

I think it is funny that Bama signs Julio and they can't stop talking about him before he takes the field.
We sign Rueben...who may not even play because we have so much talent, and yet we have WR problems.

I agree with your main point, but this is a little unfair.
One of those guys had a senior 3-year starter throwing to him, and the other had the #1 pick in the draft.
But yes, TT still has a lot to prove.

Toliver had a fifth year senior throwing to him his first year and didn't do shite.
He also had two great receivers taking the pressure off of him and just couldn't get involved in the offense.
Last year wasn't much more impressive even though we did have issues at QB. But I would still have expected a five star #1 ranked reciever in his 2nd year to add a little more to the offense than TT did.
Look, I'm not saying he doesn't have potential. He obviously does, just like Randle, Molton, etc. But until they do it throughout an SEC schedule, I don't think its unfair to say we have a question mark at the WR position behind LaFell.
