Ben will never need a degree from LSU. He will make a bunch of money in the NBA. If he ever wants to get an education during his lifetime, he can pay his way to where ever he wants to go. The guy was a great player at LSU. He didn't beat up any girlfriends. He was well spoken. He played his one obligatory year in College ball and that's it. Love him for the one year he played here and quit trashing the dude. He grew up in Australia dreaming about playing in the NBA. He didn't care about Kentucky, Kansas, NC, Duke, or any of them and he wasn't bonkers about LSU either, like we fans are. So please get over your LSU selves and wish the kid a happy life and a great career. I'm sick of the Ben bashing. Out!

Ben is an LSU legend from the same cloth as Maravich, Cannon, Morris, and Bertman. I don’t get the hate.

ben Simmos made it perfectly clear that he didn't give a crap about LSU

And therein lies the reason he is not adored by some LSU fans (myself included). It has nothing to do with his playing ability, his perceived lack of hustle or the poor performance of the team he played on. He simply does not care for LSU and I, as a fan, do not particularly care for him.

He gets the hate because a ton of people on here never really played basketball and understand it. They see Ben is the top player in the country, but that team wasnt very good so thats a big strike. Once he was a pro he was asked if college was pointless basically to which he agreed. And if we are being honest, it was pointless for a guy like that he could have been in the NBA. He isn’t completely clean in all this though. He basically was above Johnny Jones authority and the team collapsing as a result was most definitely something he had a hand in. Its just my opinion that that was more JJ’s job to prevent.

I’d feel different if he put on an LSU baseball cap.

He’s not a Tiger

No.

I have no animosity towards Simmons and really can't understand why anyone else does. He was a guy that everyone knew was one-and-done player BEFORE he stepped on to LSU's campus. He had the opportunity to go to any school in America and chose LSU, a decision, many would argue was against his best interests in light of LSU's minimal recent basketball success. He was committed for a year before he signed and never wavered on that commitment.

In his one season at LSU he put up numbers that would have likely got him the national most outstanding player award had he played for ANY other team. He averaged more assists, blocks, steals, rebounds and shot a higher FG% than the MOP that season, Buddy Hield (Simmons averaged 5 ppg less than Hield)

Simmons did everything he could to overcome Johnny Jones' lack of coaching ability. I've said it a million times, Simmons was as advertised. The problem was so was Johnny Jones.
You're 100% correct.

Explain your position on his comment. Because there was nothing racist about his post.

You are correct. He doesn't owe me shite just like I don't owe him shite to root for his success.

would you feel differently about him

Absolutely not!

I’d still consider him one of the best to play at LSU, be appreciative of his year here while continuing to support him in the pros and always consider him a Tiger.

He is professional athlete. What he chooses to do has no impact on my life. If more people would take that stance maybe the pro athletes would shut up and stop thinking people give a shite about their opinion.

Thank you. Some of these dumb fricks don't get it. It is ironic how die hard of an LSU fan Tiger Ree is, yet he is constantly getting on his knees in front of a dude who obviously doesn't give a shite about LSU.

That's easy to say when he's been in the league for 3 seasons.

When he's got 15 under his belt, it's a different animal.

Lol...what? This has nothing to do with us playing basketball. And BTW I played basketball all through high school.

He gets the hate because he came to LSU and quit on his team and hates LSU. So frick him.
