@GoodmanESPN: VCU's Will Wade has emerged as one of the frontrunners for the LSU opening, sources told ESPN.

I haven't seen his name mentioned in threads around here. Thoughts?

I know the VCU tree has not been a fruitful one Re: Shaka Smart and the guy who went to Bama, but Wade has had some success at two stops now. I have a few guys I'd like to make say no first but I would not be upset with him if we truly make a legit effort and REALLY make those guys say no first.

Sources tell me Will Wade has "high interest" in LSU job. One described LSU as his "dream job."

LSU as "dream" curse incoming

Dream job?

Maybe he can see the potential here... It'd be nice to get a basketball coach to do for us what saban did for football.

I know..downvotes bc I credited saban with helping our program realize its potential

It would be funny if everybody's dream AD Dan Radakovich let a Clemson alum get away because he wouldn't pull the trigger on his crappy basketball coach.

Happier than if it was Kermit Davis.

He was Shaka Smart's first assistant hire at VCU. Not sure of his recruiting.

Wade has a reputation as a strong recruiter, and in two years at VCU has signed a couple of consensus four-star prospects. Not McDonald’s All-Americans, but definitely top-100 kids. His current 2017 class ranks 32nd nationally and first in the A-10, and it includes big man Mayan Kiir, whom you may remember NC State also wanted. This is probably the area I’d worry least about when it comes to Wade’s profile.

From an article on the NC State job. Apparently it came down to him and Keatts

Remember ESPN sources that LSU was closing in on a deal with Houston HC Tom Herman?

Kidding aside, I think that Wade would be a good hire and would fare better than the previous VCU coaches have. And he is 34!

If Clemson axes Brownell soon it could play out the same way.
