Which asks the question of Miles, Alleva, Powers-That-Be/TAF/BOS/etc..

Does LSU's longstanding lore and reputation as an Alltime Top 12 to 15 Program, largely built upon the backs of dominant defenses in all it's better eras and seasons..

Have LSU with differing sets of expectations for it's Defense vs it's Offense? Or of it's DC vs OC?

LSU, much like Bama, possibly due to just basic elements of old-school winning football, or possibly due to the Charley Mac as Bear disciple influence, has long been a pound the rock inside-Tackles, and play stingy D program. LSU QBs going way back in time, YA, Screen, Jones, etc..didn't throw but how many attempts per game?

It didn't seem until the late 70s/early '80s, with Wickersham, Risher, Hodson, etc..that LSU opened up the passing game? Around the same time the Option and Wishbone were starting to fade for many schools and conferences?

LSU definitely doesn't appear as adamant about a high-octane offense as say UF the last thirty years, where the Gators clearly relied upon it as their program's calling card.

no. I thought Crowton was going to leave last year. I'm called a 'homer', 'sunshine pumper' and all that stuff, but Crowton needs to go -now.

He started the majority of the 2008 season, and Jefferson basically handed him the job this year and he couldn't take it.

We are a 4, maybe 5 loss team this year without Lee. He out performed JJ more games than JJ outperformed him. You're an idiot.

The co-DC's were no where close to being as bad as Crowton's offenses have the last 2 years
While I agree, my point stands. Our defense was a dysfunctional mess in 2008. We were just fortunate to play alot of shitty offenses that year.

Probably would depend on the W/L record.

There were a number of reasons why Miles was forced to tell Malleveto to pursue other job opportunities to avoid being fired.

Yes, the defense was not up to standards. But more so was the fact that the locker room was divided and the players didnt respect them much at all. Malleveto blamed the players. Morale was not good and a few players went and talked to the AD about the issue.

Once they departed, the air was cleared and then the players banded together and supported Chavis.

Why do you care more about yards than points?

That's a pretty good point, RoarRestored. When is all said and done is the final result that mattere most. Stastics are less important than results. YPG either offensive or defensive is worth less than the W/L.

Whether you buy it or not, Gary is getting a pass because we don't have legitimate, SEC caliber QBs.

sorry this bull shite excuse doesn't fricking fly because gary is the qb coach and our qbs havent improved any at all. JJ actually regressed and still has horrible mechanics so frick that excuse of its the qbs. the qbs are garys fricking fault. The arse clown should be fired and leach hired. Im not big on boosters taking control but LSU is almost at the point where someone has to step in and force les to end his relationship with gary.

Or around 100 out of 120 for two years straight?

If certain key positions simply didn't have talented players to fill them, I might very well keep Chavis. He's done far too well throughout his career to view that as anything other than a fluke.

I'm not sure what you're getting at by posting how many td's he threw for but what I'm getting at is those total offense rankings you refer to don't factor in points, they have to do with average number of yards we put up a game. ANd points matter more than yards. So, scoring defense and scoring offense matter more because they deal with number of points put up or allowed per game.

And rankings are irrelevant because it's based on how other teams do. It's still possible for you to rank real low in a certain area but still be good in that area but you are ranked low because the other teams just were simply better.

So, if Crowton is going to be criticized, it should be more for only having an offense that put up 28 points/game than for rankings regarding total offense.

Crowton may suck but I still don't think JJ is some phenom just waiting to come out of his shell. I'd like to see what Crowton can do with Mettenberger or what ever the frick his name is.

32nd in the country

Can you imagine where this football team would be if it had the 32nd best offense in the country?

Probably playing Oregon...

Oh, if there were only some way to compare Crowton at LSU and Crowton somewhere other than LSU and see how those different QBs played while he coached them.
