Would any other players even benefit from opting out if it’s not Covid related?

Only other player I could see opting out is jacoby Stevens, maybe Ingram/Logan. I just don’t see it really being beneficial for anyone else.

But I don’t blame chase. He wouldn’t have really raised his stock much if any.

Marshall is probably a 1st round pick even if he doesn't play this year.

I don’t know about that. One thing the radio guys brought up the other day is that Marshall hasn’t played a full season since his jr year of high school. Idk what the validity is to that but that’s the point they made with him needing to play.

True, but that would make him a quitter.

Opting out doesn’t benefit anybody.
Chase secured a first round spot (and I fully believe he will be a top 10 guy) but he will probably drop slightly or not get as much guaranteed since by the time the next NFL season begins he wouldn’t have even seen a gridiron in over a year and a half. Training is great but in-game reps still matter.

Players, and emphasis on players (the ones who play), grow and get better. While certain people opt out, others are getting the reps, opportunities and will reap all the benefits.

It’s like any job. Are you going to take a first round talent guy off a great season who worked his arse off for his team? Or the guy who hasn’t stepped on a field in 18 months?

I want the guy who isn’t afraid or thinks he’s made of glass.

He needs this year to get to the first. Even if he does have 1st round grade it wouldn’t be high he would be leaving a ton of money on the table.

Let's be clear. Players who will be drafted high are opting out bc they are getting paid now. Chase is/will get money up front from his agent. that's a pretty hard thing to pass up when you can easily hide behind the facade of covid.

This thread sums up why this will not became some crazy trend. Only a few players a year can do this. Unless guys start becoming satisfied with 2nd and 3rd round grades, it’s an anomaly.

The Covid shite just made it an even crazier situation. He’s not turning his back on Saturday nights in Death Valley this year. He’s not going to get 100,000 screaming fans.

It sucks. I don’t like it as a fan. The system needs fixed anyway. But if he wants to cash in his chips, let him.

Chase is kind of the exception that proves the rule. It's hard to imagine his stock being higher - and it's easy to imagine scenarios where it goes a lot lower if he plays (O-line, Brennan, injury, etc.)

Net net, I think this has to be viewed as the correct decision financially for him. I'm sure even looking at the blatant math of the matter, it was still hard for him to pass up another season as a premier college athlete. But then again, this season might get so fricked, that it wasn't that hard for him.

I'm not judging Vincent's decision, but purely based only on what I know on the field, it's way dicier for him to choose to sit out.
