Backside cornerback blitz is killing us and its not the O.L. fault

The jump pass was the worst call of the season. I have a feeling if it wasn't against UF, they don't call that play. LSU was trying to be cute and beat us with a jump pass. In an SEC game of that caliber...do what you know and poind the ball 3 times maybe four times and try and find the endzone.

DL + CB blitz - 5 players
OL - 5 players

Our OL is garbage. It is either a lack of talent or execution.

Without a doubt.

And we used Terrance McGee. All 5'9" of him that has barely played all season. How does that make any sort of sense to anyone? I thought I was seeing things in the stadium when we came out and #14 was in the backfield.

Honestly, how many roll out passes has Mett completed all season? It seems as if he throws the ball away 75% of the time roll outs are called.

That whole sequence after the fumble recovery was suspect. The roll out was ill advised. Then we took not one but two timeouts to come up with a transparent gimmick play on third down.

it's because we only send, at most, 2 players out as options for a pass. the rest are staying in to help block. in fact, we've ran a ton of plays this year where we've had only 1 WR go out for a pass. It is really crazy.

Not really sure what game you guys watched

FB was supposed to run a goal line flat route
Landry was in the back of the end zone running a drag route

OLB tackled the FB before he got into the route
DB illegally held Landry - no call
Hilarity ensues

Bootleg to the right with only the fullback flooding to the goal line. The FB gets tackled. This was a one route pass play.

So you call a one route pass play to a seldom used backup FB on a roll out with an immobile QB. It was a total waste of a down. There wasnt even a backside TE crossing in the back of the endzone.

Follow this up with a jump pass after two timeouts with a running back (former HS QB) that has not lined up in the eye formation except for 4th qtr Idaho scrub time.

so -- fricking -- pathetic. that is a microcosm of the offensive coaching staff

Could not agree more. If there was ever a time to run the ball it was on that 2nd down play.

Agreed

Also, how is that not a penalty?

Last I checked, tackling a player who doesn't have the ball is not a legal play.
