Talk about good timing. He comes in to help put out the Wade fire, replaces our WBB coach w/ Mulkey and then had a very thorough search to replace PM. He has made many crucial hires in his career, but none more important than the one he is facing right now. He will be thorough again(to the point of annoying) with this hire and he has many candidates to choose from, so this might take some time. We finally have a chance to hire a great coach, not just a good one. Woody will find the right fit. And the Tigers will soon dominate again. Try to be patient and let the chips fall where they may.

The healing starts once special Ed is canned.

We’ll, O did have a low salary before that and just produced the GOAT. Any AD would have done that and it’s not like we can’t fire him regardless. People need to get over that.

Yes I’m so glad Woodward gave O a raise which has made it harder to fire O. I do not understand the Woodward worship on here. He needs to be held accountable for giving O that money. He’s also the guy who overpaid Jimbo. Now the Aggies are stuck with him. They have not improved at all under Jimbo. Aggie fans were ready to fire him until he beat bama. Now he’s 3-2 and most likely ends the season with 4 or 5 losses. He’s in year 4 and has all his players so there really aren’t any excuses.

The Mulkey hire was solid and hopefully the Jay Johnson hire works out. But this next hire is what he will be judged on. He better get it right

And you think the JJ hire was shite too? O’s contract has not made it harder to fire him. Woodward chose not to fire him after last season and rightfully so. He needed at least another year to see if he could turn it around. He clearly is not so he’s going to go.Yeah the Aggies overpaid for Fisher but he’s definitely way better than anything else they’ve had. And the win vs Bama doesn’t hurt either. Honestly, I could care less what he did when he was at Texas A&M. It’s all about what he does here. Any AD would’ve given O a better contract. After the 2019 season. Guess what he’s going to go, problem solved.

Oh please tell me then. I know so many schools were beating down O’s door to hire him. We just had to make him one of the higher paid coaches in football.

Contract has clause that reads: coach wins NC, coach get compensation comparable to current NC winning coach's.

AND, how could you attract any new coach's if LSU does not raise the pay of a NC winning coach. Has nothing to do with the optics of over paying O, it is paying for the win.

Understand now?

I said we will see how the Jay Johnson hire goes. Did you read what I wrote? I’m not opposed to it and I’m not going to judge Woodward off it until I see the results. But what I can judge him off of is his shitty raise he gave to O. It was pretty clear O wasn’t an X’s and O’s Guy. He even said so himself. You don’t pay somebody that much money who has to have good coordinators to have a winning record.

But at the end of the day the football hires will determine success. So far his record in football for LSU is an F. If you disagree you are simply lying.

You attract new coaches by paying them what they are worth to coach at one of the best jobs in the country. Overpaying for O doesn’t attract other coaches.

See how stupid that sounds now?

Comprehension is not one of your strong suits, is it?

You attract new coach's that realize if they take a program to the upper echelon that the university has a proven record of rewarding the effort.

I can't understand it for you, so read it a few times.

It's something he did. It's an inarguable notation.

Wait so you think that you attract new coaches by showing incompetence? I don’t think it works that way buddy.

Rewarding a competent coach and rewarding a complete moron who has the football IQ of a 13 year old playing madden are not the same thing.

Bingo!!

I've been saying that on about 4-5 threads in the past week. Everybody is saying Woodward overpaid him, blah blah blah. He had to by contract clauses!! And who would not pay a natty winner, who set dam near every record. That would not set a good precedent.

There was a clause in O's contract that if he wins the natty = he gets paid. I think it was either as you stated or I think it is the average of the top 5 coaches, or something like that.
