With such a stockpile of OLB’s...

does LSU defense play most downs in a 2-4-5 lineup?
Rotate Shelvin and Ika on strong side and rotate Fehoko and Lawrence on weak side, rotate the rich amount of players at OLB, and have Phillips and Divinity in the middle, walk Stephens down to the box when needed, and cover 2 behind.
Speed on the field would be amazing if OLB’s can stand up to a power run game.

I mean outside of base that is Arandas most used alignment. I think at one point it was actually used more than base

Cannot stop the run against Bama Florida Auburn with that alignment. Clearly a good alternative for certain down and distances

Exactly. If you are dependent upon LB making the play, you gotta have a dline that allows him to.

Not this year. Our dline is good and healthy for the first time in awhile. With Chaisson on the edge this year we should be able to disrupt the qb without blitzing linebackers. Our linebackers will be flying all over and will be recking shite.

Most of those OLBs are just average players.

Anthony and Thornton are just bodies at this point

You’re kinda sorta describing Dave’s Peso package, but the 2 DL are more of the DE/ DT types, the nose is off the field.
Like everyone else, I don’t see that being three base look.

Last year they played a 3-3-5 nickel most times and 2-4-5 peso against pass heavy teams.
They’re going to one gap a lot more this season and attempt to get the opponent’s OL moving laterally more.

Aranda will adjust his alignments and personnel to fit the situations and tendencies of whomever he is playing. There were several times last year when there was only one down lineman on the field. Like any top DC he constantly gives offenses different looks.

Agree if chassion ,god forbid , goes down again would these 2 be able to step up unlike last season???

I disagree with the premise of your post. Our OLBs really haven’t shown much.
I actually think we see more 3-3-5 looks than 2-4-5
