I think Drost gets eaten alive by SEC lefties
This was my thought originally when I saw him struggle so badly vs that Youngstown lefty. But I think he's adjusted a little. And that small adjustment is good to see and I think he deserves the chance to see what he can do.

I just don’t see taking out Beloso just to get Drost ABs I guess.

His last 5 posts include that creative “lesticles mainieri” phrase.

Have you completely lost faith in Beloso or something? He’s the only guy on the team who has faced SEC pitching and he had success doing it. He’s going to hit.

I do think Drost deserves as many at bats as we can get him before SEC play to see if he can push Beloso.

I actually like Beloso. He's got a pretty good approach, but his average/slugging isn't where it needs to be at this point. I have a more pessimistic view of this year though and want Drost (the future) to get more ABs.

I agree and that’s why I think

his average/slugging

Is going to come around. He’s going to get draw a lot of walks and I feel like the hits are coming.

Absolutely not. If not for the emergence of Morgan, he's a lock in this lineup every day no questions asked. But being a DH means you're job is going to be scrutinized more and you got a higher standard for hitting. He's not hitting for average or power right now. I think Drost is the future and I think the more ABs the better. It's less a knock on Beloso and more of looking beyond this year.

I’m absolutely looking to the future as well but haven’t given up on this one quite yet

I agree that Beloso’s average and slugging are really disappointing and I’d move him down in the order. Right now though, he’s the only batter we have with a decent amount of experience against SEC pitching.

That depends on how well you play Short if we’re being honest

Of you can’t play short well enough to reach a back hand in the 6 hole your probably shouldn’t be playing short to begin with.

In the words of Brad Pitt as Billy Beane in Moneyball “he gets on base do I care if it’s a walk or a hit?”

I think the hits and power numbers are coming from Beloso. He is the only when in the lineup that has proven he can hit SEC pitching.

Think his patience may be because eddie may be working with a different approach for him. Alot more selective. Not sure that its gonna work for his slugging though.

I agree with this but I’m not writing off the season before we even get into the conference schedule.

I think we can win a lot of games this year and right now I don’t think Drost gives you a better shot of doing that than Beloso.

I’m also not saying that that will be the case all year. I’m just not ready to make that move right now

I'm not writing off the season per se. I actually think Drost getting ABs early and often even vs SEC could make him the better hitter come SECT over Beloso. That's a lot of ABs and time to get even better.
