I don't understand why people like the OP thinks what they posted is some gotcha.
Peyton Manning has the most passing yards in the NFL.
Here's unemployed this year.
When giving career awards, what someone did over the course of eleven years matters.
Other than that, meh

What if this team grows up and still delivers TigerNation a special season this year?
What if my aunt had balls?
Yes we all hope that happens. But come on.
What has Les shown you that makes you think this is a realistic possibility?
Just name 1 thing that Les has done in the last 7 years that gives you faith. Just one.

And I also want to erect a statue at Tiger Stadium for Coach Les Miles and send him out with utmost respect and honor.
I would have absolutely loved for that to happen LAST YEAR.
If his downward spiral continues after all the promises of a new and improved offense turned out to be flat out lies, then he doesn't deserve what he once did.

once again, the story since '07 is not near as rosy and we have been trending down for a number of years now. whereas we had a good offense in '13 (a year where we had a bad defense), les miles has fielded an anemic (at best) offense since '07. that's 10 years. and now we seem to be getting even worse.
while those numbers are good the future looks very bleak indeed. Miles has lost what touch he had and he has made some piss poor coaching decisions (Grimes, CC, etc).

If you truly are as upset as anyone with Miles' CURRENT record, why did you remind us of his overall record? He had a good run in the beginning. Now he sucks. End of conversation.
Because that is the man's record at LSU, in the toughest division of the toughest conference since he's been here.
Everybody knows the last 3 or 4 years have been very disappointing, and that is why he is in trouble now and must show significant improvement this season.
But, despite those disappointing seasons of late, Miles still ranks as the 6th winningest coach in America.
His record at LSU is his record, he's still ranked among the very best, and you can't deny it.

I have not seen ANYONE deny it. If a CEO of a company is doing a great job but then falls in to a coma, guess what? No one says "well he has done a great job in the past, let's give him a chance."

So you're saying we had a deal to get the 3rd best coach in college football and the Sunshine Pumpers threw a shite fit because we were going to fire a coach that was worse than him?

So I guess you are saying...
"Even if the Tigers begin showing big improvement, mature and make a strong run at the SEC title this season, Miles should be fired."
OK. You are entitled to any completely illogical opinion you have.
But if that happens and LSU fires Miles after a solid season, good luck attracting an elite coach to come take his place.

this is a PRO-JIMBO/Saban >>>> Miles/Urban >>>> Miles/and EVEN Stoops >>>> Miles thread

Alabama would buy out Nick Saban and encourage him to go to the NFL if they thought they could land Urban Meyer and really believed they could win more NCs with Meyer.

years of empirical evidence disagrees with you
ahhh so just get the wins and "make a run" is good enough for you after all these years of underachieving? THANK GOD you are not in charge of anything.

We MAY have had a deal with Jimbo then. Or maybe not.
But that was then and this is now.
I'm saying if the Tigers finish strong and challenge for the SEC (which is admittedly a huge IF at this point), and then we fire Miles, who do you have lined up THEN to take his place?
No great coach would come near this job, if we fire the best coach in our school's history, after a very successful season.
The simple logic I am employing in raising these points is not rocket science.
More people here should be able to grasp this.
Let me ask the main questions again.
Shouldn't we at least give this team more than one game to show us the improvement we want to see?
And, if this team somehow grows up, comes on strong and makes a run at the SEC and/or national title, how do you feel then about Miles, and what do we do?
