re: Winning with a QB who'd never taken a snap under center and a less than stellar defense.

The PI calls were not questionable. There were probably at least two missed.

We had a better than average defense.. not a stellar defense. Bama dominated our D line. Our defense allowed Florida to run it straight down our throat in the 4th qtr after we took the lead. Poor defense against TAM. Anyway. IMO the SEC worst offensive line and no feature back was harder to overcome

LSU's overall offense was ranked in the mid 70's before the 7 OT and bowl game, but it was the defense holding them back...

Oh its ignorance. Sorry my man.

Top 5 in the country for defensive S&P+ ranking. But not “stellar” lmao

Refresh my memory, was LSU known for their defense due to holding teams like Alabama under 10 pts, or was it their offense?

Why are you avoiding answering the question

Take off the shades, and you’d see that LSU’s defense was anything but stellar against the Aggies and UCF
The amount of secondary players not playing against UCF may have had something to do with that

LSU was 5th in the SEC in total defense, 7th in the SEC in rush defense and 7th in the SEC scoring defense. And the SEC isn't exactly known for it's high-powered offenses. We may have had some great individial players but I sure as hell don't consider that stellar team defense.

You can look at both the Defense and Offense like this
The defense was a top 10 defense for 12/13 games
The offense wasn't a top 50 offense for 12/13 games
That A&M game is a statistical outlier. And yes it happened, but pretending we someone got by with a bad defense ignores the fact that the defense was very good in all of our wins.
The offense got by for the most party.
Through the first 10 games of the season the offense was abiismal. Our only redeeming quality was an elite FG kicker.
And giving credit to the staff for Winning with a QB who had never been under center seems to ignore the fact that they put him under center.

LSU won a New Years Day bowl game and was leading in the second half during two of their 3 losses despite glaring inadequacies. Orgeron's staff was able to overcome much. LSU was thriving in the tough SEC despite having a QB who had never started under center and a defense who many admit was less than stellar due to key injuries. Imagine what LSU might achieve now in 2019 with Burrow very comfortable in an offense very suited to his skill level and LSU defense loaded at every position, loaded with All American talent in the secondary. The shocker would be if Alabama finally gets the crap beat out of them by LSU at their place, LSU returns a punt and two interceptions for TD's. OMG! One can start to feel the rise.
LSU scored 0 on Alabama.
LSU will score zero on UT (or less

the defense is why we won games last year.....
our offensive number before the last regular season game.....

64th in ppg
74th in points per play
87th OFFENSIVE TDS PER GAME ?
77th in yards per game
91st in yards per play ?
79th in 3rd down conv. ?
83rd in rushing yards per carry
64th in passing yards per attempt
106th in redzone tds % :
80th in passing yards per game
91st in passing tds per game
its amazing watching you cultist bash the one the area of the lsu team that actually showed up to play every game.

Saying the LSU defense showed up in every game is BS. I will just remind you how everyone was criticizing Aranda in 2018, his refusal to call any all out blitz’s and instead forcing the secondary and linebackers to run all over the field to cover. A practice that actually wore the LSU defense down. And let’s not forget how Fla’s coach Mullen made Aranda look very average.
All I’m saying is its time for Aranda to remind everyone why he deserves being the highest paid assistant in the country.
