Winning championships in College Baseball

Here is a list of all of the champs since CPM took over
2007 - Oregon State
2008 - Fresno State
2009 - LSU
2010 - South Carolina
2011 - South Carolina
2012 - Arizona
2013 - UCLA
2014 - Vanderbilt
2015 - Virginia
2016 - Coastal Carolina
2017 - Florida
2018 - Oregon State
So in 12 years, only two programs have won multiple champs - South Carolina, which went back to back, and Oregon State, which needed 11 years to win their second one.
For everyone complaining "But LSU was top-ranked in the preseason"
Hell, even at the time of tournament selection, it's hard to figure out who will win it.
In the 20 years through 2018 that we have had national seeds, only in 9 of those seasons, did a national seed win the whole thing. And only once - 1999 - did the #1 seed win it all.
If you look at the teams that have won 4 or more titles, the most recent is Arizona in 2012, next most recent is LSU in 2009.
This idea that LSU is the DOMINANT program that everyone would die to play for... just isn't reality anymore. Just like UCLA isn't in basketball, and Bama won't be in football once Saban retires.

There is a difference in not being a champion and having the issues we're having right now.

Note we were eliminated by all 3

We should be better at baseball than what we are currently. Too many resources and too much fan support.

Where’s that Arkansas gif where they didn’t catch the foul pop-up?

I agree with you, but this place is not interested in hearing that when it comes to baseball. Most are still living in the 90s when college baseball didn't have as much parity.

All that work just to frick it up in the last sentence. Reminds me of us against ole miss Sunday.

And I was on a roll too... thanks for pointing that out.

Yep, Each one of the teams on your list have the resources and tradition of LSU baseball so LSU fans should settle for winning a NC once every 20 years like these teams do.
Got it Mrs. Karen

It's baseball. How many "resources" and "fan support" do you need?
They can only give away a stupid low number of scholarships and pay for a stupid low number of coaches.
The Trackman is fun to use, but does it really make for better ballplayers?
Baseballs and bats are limited to certain specifications.
It's not 1996 anymore. Baseball is not an expensive program to run, and a lot of schools can afford it. The point of diminishing returns on spending in baseball is much lower than the other major sports.

tradition
Does tradition throw a 96 mph fastball? Does tradition get a perfect jump on a stolen base?
Remember how UCLA won a bunch of basketball champs in the 70s? Know how UCLA can't find a basketball coach today?
Tradition?

Also good to note the two coaches that have won those multiple championships are no longer coaching.
This does not excuse the way the team is currently playing and they need to get better but it should help people realize that there isn’t a dominant team out there and that there probably never will be again in college baseball. The rules are made to allow for too many variables.
Even the way Omaha is set up isn’t ideal and allows for any team to win once you are there. You build your team around 3 game series only for the most important tournament to be double elimination. That much hasn’t really changed since the 90’s which makes what Bertman did in Omaha that much more amazing. It wasn’t easier to win in Omaha in the 90’s it was easier to build a team and get there then. That’s what people don’t understand I believe. Bertman’s greatness wasn’t winning a bunch of games (which he did plenty of that) it was winning when it mattered in Omaha at a ridiculous clip. Something no coach is doing at the moment.

This is way to logical for The Rant

Maybe some fans just don’t like him

Yes. If it didn't, why would MLB organizations be coming out of pocket to install them at JUCOs? Or why would MLB assist with funding the installation at D1 schools?

No just about all of the posters in these baseball threads cannot argue the retarded arse points they are trying to make. They wont even respond when a knowledgeable baseball fan contradicts everything they say. It's hilarious. They know nothing about anyone else in the country or college baseball as a whole

Becuase it is a HUGE tool for evaluating players. The amount of data it provides to MLB clubs has greatly improved scouting and made for better draft selections.
But it doesn't make the players better. It just makes them easier to evaluate.
