Don't play them at the Superdome. Just move them to Zeph. Anyone else grow up going to these evenst and thought how great they were?

Bring in the state of Texas.

LSU, UNO, Tulane vs. A&M, Rice, Houston

My favorite year was '91 (and I think it was The Busch Classic then). Florida, Miami, and Florida State came in. Tulane went 0-3. We beat Miami, Florida, and then lost to FSU on Sunday.

Anyway, thoughts on how they could make this work again?

Hell Yea man! I remember when I first went they were the Busch Challenge. They used to have the big inflatable Busch beer can in the outfield.

I always looked forward to going down to new orleans for what used to be the busch challenge then winn dixie showdown. When they played Louisiana vs Texas/Florida/Mississippi/Alabama

Those were great weekends. I wish we still had that.

Always did love that series of games. Used to go every year with my dad.
Saw lots of good teams and great players. Rodney Peete with USC, Incaviglia and Ventura with OK St., Charles Johson with Miami just to name a few.

Would love to see the series return, but I would like to keep it in the Dome.

If I'm not mistaken, LSU opted out of the series at the end of the contract for, of course, money. The biggest crowds were always the LSU games. LSU didn't think it was fair that they always had many more fans at their games and they had to share the revenue equally with Tulane and UNO. LSU decided they could make more money with a 3 game home series.

That is exactly rite, Skip wanted more home games..$$$..the same reason he shot down the concept of the Wally Pontiff game becoming a mini tourney in N.O. Course, the weeenie AD, the female who was fired for "improper conduct" with a female student, made it easier for Skip by verbally challenging him in regards to which team brought in the most $$$.

The whole point of playing in the dome was to not be playing outside the first week of February.

It might not be as bad now with the uniform start date in late February. They could pull off Zephyr. Unfortunately, Houston might have taken it from us with the Minute Maid Classic (or whatever they are calling it now).

LSU will not give up 3 home games, especially non conference with the condensed schedule.
That's why it ended.

I miss that. I would walk literally across the street after work, get a cold beer and watch excellent baseball. Even with the Tigers in the game, the Dome had so many seats that you never had to worry about it.

One problem for the Dome would be that they no longer have a baseball ready rug now that the Dome is Field Turf.

I remember the last one they held there. Brandon Larson hit 3 homers and the third one hit the facade in the terrace. They had better series when it was the Busch Challenge. California teams, Florida temas, etc...When is changed to Winn Dixie they had Alabama, MS, Ark., and the North Carolina teams. Funny that we blasted the shite out of UNC in that tourney and look how great they are now. Odd isn't it.

I enjoyed those series as well.

I liked the first one the best. It was Busch sponsor that year. Saw "Prime Time" play for FSU.

They should definitely bring them back....to Zephyr Stadium.
