You don't know shite. A pop up to the first baseman or in foul ground is not making good contact, nor is a drippler to third. I still can't believe how weak we were are the plate, the whole series, only a few well hit balls--very little pressure put on their pitching staff or defense.

Hitting coach add needs to go out today!!!!

Javi is a terrible hitting coach with no eye for talent. He is the weakest link in the LSU Tigers baseball team. We should have offered Stony Brooks hitting coach a job right there on the spot. We will never win another championship while we are under the control of this coaching staff. Javier Sanchez has to go!!!!!!!!

The bottom line is that we are a top tier program and he isn't at this level yet. When Dunn started he wasn't a top tier guy I'm sure so it isn't a personal thing. The same guy that are saying coaching has nothing to do with our hitting are probably the same ones who have praised Dunn for what he has done with our pitchers.

On the lsusports.net website, they give javi credit for Raph's success this year. I can't stand the ex Mineari player turned hitting coach or the thought of Blake dean joining the coaching staff next year. Since when is LSU a lab school for coaches to get their start?? Dude needs to go, there is no way SB is paying their hitting coach over 20K, we should honest to God hire him on the spot

I hope we don't have a Nebraska football situation where they kept hiring former players and never brought in any new blood.

I'm still for PM but he needs to run his business and make some changes, whatever they may be, over the off season.

Like other poster said, PM should go after Stoney Brook's hitting coach. Every single one of those frickers could smash.

Another reason to hire the SB hitting coach, he can actually recruit!!!! 7 MLB draft picks forms a no name school, imagine what he could do at LSU

We could probably save a lot of money getting a few of these instead of having a hitting coach:

yes please!!! it was amazing watching SB this weekend. they would actually choke down on the bats when they were down in the count and would just slap at the ball until they put it in play. FUNDAMENTALS!!! We haven't done that all year!!! He has got to GO!!! I understand he is young and has learning to do, but you don't get to "GROW UP" as a coach at LSU! Sry!

SB coaching staff probably costs less than the Carew batting trainer, but hell of an idea

Well, I think the importance of hitting coaches is over-rated. they should get neither substantial blame when a team isnt hitting nor credit when a team is crushing the ball consistently. What could SB's coach do that is substantially different from other coaches? this kids have been practicing hitting a baseball for half their life at this point. Ultimately, its up to the player, to make that decision in fractions of a second, on whether to swing. There is simply no time to actually think about what they are doing up at the plate or to apply some technique a coach suggested. It's muscle memory, it's reflexes. It's about digging in those spikes at home plate knowing that you're about to have a missile hurled towards you at 90+ mph. Coaches can only do so much.

I have to disagree with some of this. I think a hitting coach can make a huge difference in terms of:
- improving mechanics and spotting flaws as they creep in
- shortening the duration of slumps and keeping confidence up
- improving pitch recognition and training reflexes

You're correct that decisions have to be made in split-seconds. But there's a lot that can influence even those split-seconds.

i have to disagree as well! at the very least, a hitting coach is there to teach FUNDAMENTALS! The very thing that most of our hitters lacked this year.

If, thru three games, one could not observe the difference in discipline and ability at the plate for both teams then there's just no explaining how poorly LSU and its coaching stands in contrast to SB or anyone.

It wasn't even SB's success at the plate that impressed me, it was their discipline and confidence with two strikes. That's practice and coaching, plain and simple.

Thank you! That is absolutely what a hitting coach should be doing. It is something we have not seen in our program since Javi arrived and we won't ever see it again until we hire a real hitting coach.
