Will Zach Lee ever make it back to college football?

We have Zach von Rosenburg as our 28 year-old punter, and he's a year older than Zach Lee.

Zach Lee's baseball career isn't really going all that well, wish we could get him back to LSU.

He'd be a nice insurance policy for next season.

Zach!

But really, he got a call up for a game in 2015 and another call up last season for a few games, none this year and looks like he got demoted from AAA to AA. Maybe after this year he hangs it up, but who knows.

Every year, about this time, this same thread pops up.

Personally, I was addicted to his recruitment. I thought he would be the answer at QB we were looking for.
As terrrible as his MLB career has been, I don’t see him hanging it up.

I think it’s time to give up on the wish of him ever being at LSU.

Usually around this time guys even with money eventually give up. If it hasnt really happened after 8 years, it pretty much isn't happening. The demotion to AA this season might be it for him, but we will see. Like I said he did get a call up in 2017 for a few games.

Zach Lee enrolled in LSU in the summer of 2010 and finished the semester so his 5 year clock started then and he’s not eligible anymore.

So Matt Mauck was a bad idea?

Zach Lee was a very talented QB.

Would he be productive and successful? Who knows.

But, to say “no thanks” just sounds ignorant.

I knew he enrolled and left, but was unaware that’s how it worked. Well that’s that.

Your 5 year NCAA eligibility clock starts the day you enroll and sit in a class.

Have they changed the rule on that? Booty did the same thing, but when he came back, they only took his freshman year from when he enrolled in 94'. Once he came back in 99', he started
off as a sophomore.

Isn't that usually just a contractual play by the club? Was he called up for a legit shot at the bigs or was the club just checking a box to keep control of him?

"Where I'm at right now and how close I am, there's no real point in thinking about that," Lee said. "Now, if something were to come up in the next couple of years and I started struggling real bad and didn't feel like I had an opportunity to get to the big-league level, some more thought would start creeping in.

"The door is sort of cracked open, but it's not a situation where I'm eagerly looking to find it and run through that door."

Lee is a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher about to enter his eighth professional season, his first in the Tampa Bay organization.

He does watch LSU football games, remains a presence at his old high school in McKinney, Texas, and still occasionally throws a football, too.

I'm not Brandon, but it's not hard to recall that he went the baseball route then came back to college, and tore it up at Oklahoma State. Got drafted in the 1st round in 2012 and has been on NFL rosters ever since.

You are correct unless he didn't enroll that semester full time. The 5 year clock begins when you enroll in a school full time. So it would depend on how many credit hours he enrolled for in 2010.

He probably was only in 1 or 2 classes if it was summer

If I remember correctly, he did not enroll full time specifically for this reason. He should have eligibility
