Yep just looked it up. Smith lead the tight end group with receiving yards with a whopping 66 yards on the season.

That just doesn't sound like a very balanced attack.

If the bowl game carries over, expect to see 4-5 passes thrown to TEs a game. Don't be surpised if Smith racks up 300 yards, or the TE position combines for 400 yards.

They want to utilize the short passing game and with Harris's laser, he could hit those slants to Smith all day.

I watched some of your Spring Game. There were quite a few passes to the TE's in the first half.

I don't get the big deal with the TE love around here.

It typically presents a great opportunity to exploit athletic and size mismatches.

LSU happens to have a number of highly capable athletes at the tight end position (Gordon, Smith, Shipley, Washington, etc.). And a couple of them were actually prolific pass catchers in high school, so it makes sense that we would attempt to utilize them in our passing attack.

Plus, tight ends are typically regarded as a freshman or inexperienced quarterback's best target due to their size and stature. Considering our recent history with quarterbacks, you would expect the coaching staff to make use of such talent.
