Let me tell you how I know this is the right guy for the program. He’s always thinking big picture but without sacrificing the small details that also must be noticed. Case in point...remember the game we won right after we lost to Alabama and Georgia at Home. He couldn’t even enjoy that win because he knew those two games previously were ones we had to have. Fast forward to our 8-10 SEC record and make it 10-8. Maybe those two wins still don’t get us in the tourney, but it sure would’ve been nice to be in that position. Regardless, we definitely overachieved this year and next year should be fun!

It will be interesting next year. We have some good players coming in. The big talk should turn into bug action next year.

I agree. Coach Wade is building a monster here and next year is gonna be awesome. Easily the most talented class we've had in a long long time

Very interested to see who the last two signees are.

Should we compete for the SEC title next year? Is the team sweet 16 level? Elite 8?

hard to say at the moment but judging off how Wade used a severely undermanned roster this year, add in a number 3 recruiting class and waters coming back.

conservative prediction, top 4 in the conference, 1st round win in the tournament, then roll the dice

And there you go with your “big talk” accusations again. Haven’t we had this conversation already? You act like Wade is out there constantly acting braggadocious in his interviews and statements. The guy is confident in himself, his staff, and his players. Nothing wrong with that; and he is quick to point out any of their weaknesses. But outside of one statement he made to a group of incoming students saying they were going to make a Final 4 before they graduated (which he was simply trying to create excitement and instill some pride), I’ve never heard him have any “big talk.”

If you feel otherwise, please feel free to cite examples.

Yes he continues with this “big talk” accusation but has nothing to back it up with. He’s always claiming that Wade made some otherworldly prediction that nobody els has heard of, yet he cannot provide any proof that it was ever made. He hates Wade and he takes shots at him every chance he gets. Even his more positive post are really just backhanded compliments about Wade. He’s a Jones dick rider, he truly believes Johnny Jones is a better coach and should still be the HC at LSU. Best thing to do is ignore him, it’s pointless trying to have an honest discussion with him anyway.

You think he really believes this? After that year 4 abomination where he just totally lost control of the team totally quit on him....man anyone we would have gotten and I literally mean anyone, would have been better. Poor Johnny, good guy but he'll never be a head college coach again at least at this level. It was that bad and everyone knows it.

He does, a lot of people think he’s a troll but he actually believes the shite he says. Go check his post history, he knows Jones personally so it’s like a crusade to prop JJ up and attack Wade. What’s puzzling is why, just because you’re a JJ fan doesn’t mean you have to hate Wade. Jones is gone and is never coming back so why not appreciate what the new guy is doing?

He’s got the 3rd best class in the country...anything less than semifinals of big dance is an underachievement.

Even when you try to appear positive about LSU, you still can't help but come off as a JJ dick riding bitch. Seriously dude, go frick yourself.

You are telling me he's the "right guy" for the program & he can see "big picture" because he was disappointed in two losses that we should have won? Well shite any knuckle head on TIGERDROPPINGS could be the head coach if that's the criteria.

we definitely overachieved

No doubt

Will Wade will lead LSU basketball to great things, but I highly doubt you know Will Wade's mindset based on your post.

I think for the first time in my life in more excited about next basketball season than next football season. 3 five stars coming in at once. fricking crazy.

Disagree, the final 4 would still be an overachievement with next years group. We will be a much better team and if they have the right chemistry and play great basketball it’s a possibility but to expect a final 4 until he has at least 3/4 years of stockpiled recruits is still premature.

It’s statements like these that set fans up for huge disappointments, thus creating asinine and frustrating threads and posts the Rant is famous for.

Very few, if any, people are more excited than I am for the direction of this program and the players we have coming in. However, you cannot overlook that it will still be year 2 of the rebuild and the roster, while very talented and deep, will be loaded with many inexperienced and unproven talent. All we know right now is that the new players have huge potential based on the assessments of a bunch of pencil pushing, computer crunching geeks. We have no clue how well they will take to coaching and fit in the system. We have no idea if they are hard workers and team players or if they are lazy and selfish individuals who have their own agenda on the court.

The fact is that it takes a lot of talent playing together, great coaching, experience and a bit of luck going your way to make a Final 4 (or semifinals as you so put it). Next year has a lot of potential right now, but far from a guarantee, and expectations should be measured and patience given.

Agreed, I have had friends in coaching at other colleges and I didn't hate their successors, I just felt bad for them losing the gigs.

I have a old high school teammate who was around the program a lot back in the late 80's and even played on what was called a freshman team that Tex Winter coached the one year he was here, I think it was a means of seeing if they could find maybe a diamond in the rough walk-on that might be good enough to play for the real team down the road.

It gave him some access to the team back then and he became one of the many friends of Johnny that liked him....everybody liked Johnny. That's how he ultimately got the gig, all his buddies from the Dale days kept up the constant pressure until Joe caved.

Well, last time I talked to him he was not onboard with Will either. He tells me, "let me ask you something, how do you think he's getting all those players here? Seems kinda fishy huh?"

Never mind Johnny landed some pretty big recruits in his day. He never said anything of the sort then.
