lawd...

both camps of the argument are pretty beyond ridiculous...

fact is, we suck, we aren't going to get any better, and next year is going to be even rougher than what we are seeing this year...

basketball season has been over a LONG time ago, it's baseball season now, football spring coverage is around the corner, it'll be summer (vacations, etc), then football season starts again.... be happy about these things rather than lament on the bullshite that is LSU basketball

You're a fricking idiot. To think MM walked into a situation where he should have immediate success is pure stupidity at it's finest. He was 31-3 last year with Murray fricking State. That don't happen by accident.

Give the man some time. If after 3 years you're seeing the same product on the court then call him all the names you want.

Wish you were gone with him. You aren’t the gramps of the board. People don’t have to get over it because you think so. Wade had a phenomenal group coming in this year, plus a solid group coming back. And, he had some charisma, Matt M lacks both so far. Either way, what gives you the right to tell others how to think?

Pathetic?

Yes, pathetic. LSU is not a training program for mid-major coaches to see if they’re good enough to compete in the SEC.

After Orgeron was fired, did Scott hire a mid-major FB coach? Hell no, he went and got ND’s winningest coach in their history.

Was Mulkey a mid-major coach when Scott hired her? Hell, no, she won NCs at Baylor.

Jay Johnson? Nah he came from an AZ team that he regularly took to Omaha.

Scott hiring MM from Murray State, which is not how he hired any other coaches, only means he doesn’t give a shite about mens basketball. Period. It’s that simple. Otherwise he’d have gotten a proven elite HC like he did in the other sports. Or he could’ve just kept Wade.

What great coach would have come into an unknown situation with no team? You're not making fair comparisons to the other sports.

And oh yeah. MM was 31-3 at Murray State last year. He was in the same mold as Nick Saban and Les Miles who was having success at a mid major college and given an opportunity to move up.

And no, I'm not saying he's Nick Saban. The situation is the same.

This is an idiotic excuse, and it’s why I ended the last post with “or he could’ve just kept Wade.”

If this were true, Scott would’ve known it ahead of time. If Scott knew he wouldn’t be able to get a great coach if he fired WW, then he should’ve just stuck with Wade.

Because this year and the next few years of LSU MBB will be worse than any sanctions the NCAA could’ve levied.

Maybe just keeping Wade wasn't an option. We'll likely never know what was worked out beyond closed doors.

The fact is that it’s just not Woody’s MO to hire mid-major HCs. Otherwise he would’ve hired Billy Napier.

It’s glaringly obvious already that the MM hire was a failure and a disaster. The man is probably a great guy. He just doesn’t have the personality or abilities needed to succeed at LSU.

Perhaps so, but the real fact is it's too early to tell.

So if you’re the AD, you’re gambling on a guy who has shown zero promise in recruiting, coaching, getting players to buy in, or even winning games against evenly matched talent at LSU?

The risk of that gamble is 3-5 years of an empty PMAC and only a handful of fans masochistic enough to watch a dumpster fire program burn for years.

Can someone please post a picture of Will Wade in this thread. I miss my General. I love Will Wade. I’m sorry he got caught cheating but he’s my coach.

I would take coach Wade back in a heartbeat. I love his Bravado. He is the second Dale Brown. I miss Wade so much. I think about the happy years we could have had here if it weren’t for Satan Scotty.

Please come back Will Wade.

Just a reminder. Dale Brown left us on probation. We are not currently probation. We have been hamstrung by our AD.

False

That’s the issue. False narratives do get a lot of bait click though.

It would be different if the talent wasn’t there and those freshmen were playing early in the year to develop.

Plus he brought 2 starters and a guy that ate up min from a team that won 31 games and knows his system.
His situation is similar to Mulkey’s was last season

You going to pretend like success in other programs is not a viable variable?

Care to guess where #1 ranked Bama got Nate Oats? University of Buffalo.

What about #3 Purdue’s head coach Matt Painter? His prior head coaching experience was at Southern Illinois.

#4 ranked UCLA’s Mick Cronin cut his chops at Murray State before our guy did.

Gonzaga’s Mark Few worked his way up there as a grad assistant.

#9 Baylor’s Scott Drew coached at Valparaiso before Baylor pulled him from the Missouri Valley conference - where he coached against those mid majors from Murray State.

I get your point that he wasn’t a well established star that we thought would be impossible to pull like Kelly or Mulkey, but let’s not pretend that top basketball programs don’t routinely pull quality coaches from “mid major” programs.
