I did and I watched the press conference. He didn’t even use the word illegal once during the intro speech or during the questions after.

Woodward put LSU in the current situation. Look at all elite head coaches the SEC has added since Wade left. And then there's McMahon
this. Look at all the cucks in this thread saying otherwise. LSU basketball is in the shitter because of one man and his name is Fat Woodward

We can and should demand better

Maybe the AP interviewed him separately at another time or something. The other quotes in the OP were from the press conference but the one you just posted isn’t.

Just listened to the entire press conference. He didn’t say that or anything close to it.

The AP interview transcript isn’t available to read to determine the context of his answers. But you can clearly see after watching the press conference that the article takes most of his comments out of context.

He plainly admits he was cheating...
I don’t give a flying frick if he was cheating. Fat Woodward should have stood by him and told the NCAA to get fricked like every other school was doing

I’d call it odd but it is the media

It wasn’t during the press conference … it was during an interview with the AP:

quote:

During a later interview with The Associated Press, Wade also refused to use today's changed climate in the sport — with allegations of payments tied to Wade's LSU ouster essentially legal now with college athletes allowed to profit from their fame — as a pass.

“That to me is a cop-out," Wade told the AP. “When I was doing that, it was illegal. Just because it’s legal now doesn’t mean it was the right thing to do then. And I think that’s the way that some people rationalize some things, but that’s not the reality of what it was. It wasn’t right to do then and, you know, I paid for it.”

But of course you’ll accuse the AP of being dishonest.

Could you link the transcript of the interview? Or do we just have to rely on the reporter’s editorializing?

Weird when people who obfuscate information accuse someone posting facts of lying. Not really weird though, I’m used to it now.

The AP is 100% dishonest—probably one of the most biased reporting agencies in the United States. There’s a reason they were banned from the Oval Office press conferences.
