Did anyone watch the Kentucky / Auburn game Saturday? Kentucky was crushing the best team in the country on the road, up by 9, and then their best player got hurt. Auburn wins by double digits.

Personnel matters. I hope that we can retain our leader for a very long time, bc if he goes then our fan base will be crying and whining all the time for a much different reason. In my opinion he is the Nick Saban (in his early days) of basketball.

Off the court he has shown the ability to win over and lead these young men. His influence shows through kids like Brandon Murray that give consistent effort defensively that is hard to find. I am proud to have him as the Tigers’ coach and I will support them in good times and bad. Once we are healthy, it’s on.

Will Wade, LSU basketball coaching G.O.A.T

Dale fans will be here shortly to defend it taking Dale 7 years to win at LSU despite it being a 3 team conference pretty much

I also remember Dale’s era. Without Shaq he is just another forgotten coach in our history. As mentioned, personnel matters. I get the frustration with losses, but refusing to see how far we have come and where we are headed is extremely emotional and immature.

He went to two FINAL FOURS without Shaq. Nice try. Do you know how hard it is to get to the final four?

He also coached for 25 years. I’ll bet you a large amount that Wade makes more than 2 final fours in 25 years. In?

Then you don't really remember the Dale era. Shaq was at the end of the peak years. LSU basketball was at its height during the 80's. The 80-81 is STILL the best team in LSU history. It is a team that really captivated the state and started to turn BR into a "basketball town". For 10 years it was tough to get a seat in the PMAC for big games. The 1986 NCAAT games at the PMAC were arguably the best moments in the venue's 50 year history. Dale brought LSU basketball to heights never experienced well before Shaq arrived on campus. He was the last big attraction, not the first.

That aside, I find the whole argument over Wade unbelievably stupid. It is as if LSU fans feel there can only be one singular opinion of him. Either he is the greatest coach in LSU basketball history and is wholly infallible, or he is a completely over-rated. The reality is NEITHER one of those opinions are accurate.

The reality is he is a good young HC who has the program winning at its most consistent level in almost 4 decades. For the first time since the 80's there is a feeling the program, under him, COULD become a consistent championship contender. But it is also not there yet. And Wade hasn't been infallible. For 3 seasons he mostly wasted some really, really good offenses with some absolutely terrible defensive teams. This year has been the opposite (thus far). That doesn't mean he is a bad coach. Far from it. It just means he's not perfect and above criticism.

Notwithstanding the NCAA uncertainty, the program is in a good spot. But it is not yet great.

Wade is an excellent coach that just needs a couple more players/time to put it all together. Losing Miller was crucial. He’s going to get it figured out and then bam, watch out! He’s younger than Pearl and that shows at times. Wade is going be like a fine wine

That’s well said, Alt. I was basically aiming for that middle ground in defending him but you did a better job articulating it all.

Now let’s get a win tomorrow

most of the goofs on here only pay attention football (and they have poor knowledge of that too)

Missing two starters is 40% of your starting lineup. For you hoops trolls understand that means 5 players make up a starting lineup

Now tell me a football team that keeps cruising with 40% of its starters out and people playing out of position. Oh, without those 2, you have zero senior leadership on the court.

Hmmmm, what does that sound like???? The Texas Bowl you say? Settle down and get some perspective. Bootup

Big deal Kentucky lost their point guard five minutes into the game when we beat them. Injuries are part of the game.
