Will Wade - "Doing What's Best for LSU"

During yesterday's presser ahead of the Utah game, Will Wade provided a very candid perspective on the various considerations he weighs when deciding which teams to schedule for LSU each season.
Given all of Wednesday's post-game chatter about playing in-state teams, I thought some fellow Ranters would appreciate CWW's comments in this 25 minute video, starting around the 13 minute mark until the end of the clip.
My takeaway was a better understanding of the strategy behind scheduling, so maybe others might find this insightful, too.

Wade has now admitted that Marlin never said that. He also never called Waters a midget. He also never 'went after' lsu or Baton Rouge people: his ire of the seed was clearly directed at the NIT committee.

Since the beginning of the season most posts I've seen in regards to the basketball season was if we got to the NIT it would be a success.

Most LSU Basketball fans were happy with the progress this team made in one year and happy to be playing a postseason game of any kind. The only thing a few fans were nitpicking was the few losses we had that prevented us from making the NCAA tournament. A Stephen F. Austin win at home, a Georgia win at home, and a win at either South Carolina or Vanderbilt might have been enough to go along with our other quality wins.
You should have been pulling for us in those games. Might have gotten you a 5-seed in the NIT.

Well to paraphrase, even though we really did not want to play the game .... I think Wade and team did exactly what they said, won the game.

Yeah, this is bullshite.
Bob Marlin insinuated that LSU has been trash and that the NIT was a big step up for them. While true that's not something you say about an upcoming opponent, especially one that's 60 miles away and has fomented animosity towards one another in various sports over the years.
Count me in the camp that loves what Wade did. He's building something at LSU, and his understanding of what gets LSU's crowd going is pretty impressive given the short amount of time he's been on campus.

Yep....which is why all the lies that Wade was saying that Marlin said is so reprehensible. And again, Wade himself has acknowledged what he said was wrong.
