Yes

Even that defense gave up 40 to Tennessee, 35 to Florida, 38 to A&M, & 50 to UGA

The last of the cancers have moved on. As long as some of that residual is washed off of Perkins, we should be really good on the defensive side of the ball.

I am most concerned about or QB performance and specifically the ability to improvise.

The QB is the best returning player on the team. No returning player had more passing yards than Nuss did last year. The offense was 4th in the nation in 3rd down %...despite having no running game. Yes, Nussmeier can improve on reducing the turnovers, but he is FAR from the biggest concern on the team.

Last year's defense was worse than the 2022 defense. If last year's offense had the 2022 defense, it's probably a playoff team.

This defense has a lot more talent. The 2022 defense overperformed for sure and has some good players but this 25 defense has legit LSU caliber athletes at every level

I believe the key is the play of Perkins. He will be played a lot and will be called upon to make certain plays in critical situations. If he plays strong and fast like we all know he is capable, then our D should be strong. If he plays slow and weak, as he did most of last year, then I don't think the overall defensive stats will be much improved from last year. Safety play is our unknown and critical to success.

If Perkins plays "slow" he won't be on the field for long.

They have the personnel, leadership, and right DC but have to prove it against great competition this season
