How was it a poor play call if the qb was the one who fricked up?

Wrong personnel in the game. That’s how.

The QB was not the only one who fricked up. The personnel package that you have on the field is part of the play call.

My only gripe was on some of the 3rd and under 10 calls throughout game when all they needed was 6 yards for a first they chunking down the field

Get the first down
You have one of the best te in the country
That should be an easy call

This and all year 4th & Short called runs from shotgun are just dumb calls.

Is that a function of the play call or Nuss's decision where to throw?

I heard on the TD to tie the game Anderson was the third option on that play and there was a receiver much more open underneath for a first down.

Nuss made a bad read.

Hmm. Maybe this could be a big part of the vanilla offense?

Nuss is still learning and the play calling will look better as Nuss grows and makes better decisions. There were several times Nuss could have ran for lots of yards instead of throwing the ball away. We saw serious progression from year 1 to year 2 in both Burrow and Daniels. This is still year 1 for Nuss.

I highly doubt it. He is who he is at this point. We’re just gonna have to compensate for Sloan’s lack of playcalling abilities and focus hard on strengths that this team already has.

Again. That is not on Sloan. If he calls for a play that requires a RB he is not saying “and put Jackson in”

None of these balls were completed passes. How is this on the playcalling when guys are wide open?

Don't post evidence and facts. It will not be welcome here.

This offense is explosive. Whatever is going on to start a game needs to be self scouted to improve. If they are scripting the first few drives, teams are picking that up and scheming it. Once we go down by 10 or more or we get into the second Q. The offense looks completely different.
